Has anyone used a wheelchair rollator combo for use? We’re thinking of getting one, primarily for getting around airports. If you have, what were the pros and cons? What specific one did you get?

We got Mom a Drive Nitro Duet. It works well for her walks, and it quickly converts to a transport chair when she gets tired. It is a bit heavier with the attached foot rests, and a bit more awkward when loading it into the trunk of a car. But it does fold up easily. She seems to maneuver it easily. As a wheelchair, as long as the path is level and smooth, it's easy to push her. I've had trouble pushing her over some door thresholds, maybe because the wheels are smaller than a wheelchair. Also, I'm not as strong as I used to be. 😉

We haven't used it in an airport. Have you taken a rollator on a plane? I'd love to hear how that works!

We bought one for my mom. It is the Medline brand, but our particular model is discontinued (there are newer models available). It is a little wider than just a regular rollator to allow for a wider seat. It folds up easily to transport in the car. I agree that the smaller wheels can make pushing someone in it as a wheelchair uphill or over rough terrain more difficult than a standard wheelchair. However, since you cannot push a regular rollator with someone seated at all, it was a lifesaver when she became tired quickly and needed to be pushed. We did not use it at an airport as she didn’t feel comfortable flying by that point. I think it would have been too wide for the aisle on the plane so if you need something all the way to her seat, it could be an issue.

Fortunately I wouldn’t need something on the plane. Everything is narrow enough for me to wall walk. I haven’t tried getting around an airport with just a walker.
