Does anyone know if you can "rent" or "borrow" wheelchairs from the Hotels at DLP or is it just at the parks. I'm going in 3 weeks with my 74 year old mom for her first time to DLP (she loves WDW) and I know we need to get a chair for her to really be able to experience the parks. We are staying at hotel new york and I am wondering if similar to the hotels at WDW they have chairs that the hotels own that you can borrow? Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!

You won't be able to take these out of the park to the hotel though. I injured my foot last year while at the park and was obviously in serious discomfort. They wouldn't budge and trust me, it was a long and painful way too that parking lot. :crazy2:

Also the chairs are really not comfortable at all. They reminded me more of a garden chair with wheels. Maybe look for an outside vendor.

Did they not?? My Pirate hired two, with a €150 euro deposit each (actual hire was free with the Dream Passes) when Nan and Grandad were staying at the HNY (adapted room), and in February they offered to put one in my friends adapted room for her boy to use.

Maybe with a disability pass or badge, the rules are different?

That sucks that they made you walk back :(

No, they strictly refused. I have a park disability pass (marked difficulties in standing/walking), but they just kept telling us "no." They claimed that in general the chairs couldn't be taken out of the park.

We were day guests and not staying onsite, I guess that could have been the difference. When boyfriend said he had to get me to the parking lot maybe they thought we'd take off with the chair. :confused3

It turned out I had broken my foot in the end. The doctor doing the x-rays wasn't sure if to be shocked or impressed that I managed to get around with that.

Wow!!! That actuallt sounds horrific!!
I guess maybe being an onsite guest that time made a difference (we usually stay offsite too or do day trips). I'll bare that in mind!

It was a horrific experience, yes. Boyfriend was extremely close to losing his temper, and he's one of the most mild mannered people I can think of.

Even worse was that we complained in writing and never heard a single word back. Even a simple "sorry for the misunderstanding, this was due to you mentioning the parking lot" or something may have helped calm things down.

We've been allowed to take the wheelchair to our onsite hotel, rented the chair for 6 days. This was the max. number of days.
When you have a dreampass and don't have to pay for the wheelchair, you're not allowed to rent it for more days. You have to return it every night and get a new one in the morning. You can still take it out of the park during the day though, to go to the village or the other park for example.

You still have to put a deposit of €150 available (they take a copy of your card) if you have a Dream Pass, and if you have a hotel easy pass for an onsite stay, you can take them out of the park as it's linked with your booking.

I know ti's not strictly the same, but we have Dream passes, and when we hired a pushchair for the day in December (2013), yes, we had to give card details for a 150 euro deposit. But when we hired one for the day in March 2014, they didn't want a deposit! I was surprised......!

We have "stores" over here, where you can rent things like that.
Wheelchairs, crutches, etc ... maybe an option to look into it?
And rent one before you leave instead of the hassle to not being able to use the chair outside the park, and bring it back every night and get a new one every morning.
