Hi Everyone!

We'll be going to DL next week to celebrate DD's 3rd birthday, but I have a wheelchair question.

My grandmother who is 85 would like to go too since she hasn't been to DL in a very long time. I don't think she'll be able to do so much walking, but we've never had to get a wheelchair before so I'm not sure how it works. She has a blue handicapped sign in her car, will we need to bring that in order to get a wheelchair? Are there special entrances in the rides for wheelchairs? And if so, how many people get to utililize them? This is the first time in history that our entire family is going on the same day so there will be about 17 of us (10 adults & 7 children). While I want our entire party to stick together, I don't want to be "unfair" to other DL guests. How does that work???

TIA!

We just had my brother there this week who is in a wheelchair. He has his own, but we still had to go in to City Hall and get the pass. We didn't have to show anything. My Mom did explain why he needed one, but they didn't seem interested in that either really. They wrote out the pass for as many days as we would be there.

Most rides you enter either at the exit or in the fastpass line. You show the pass to all the CM's at the rides. They will ask you questions like if she can transfer out of the wheelchair, walk short distances (like for HM) ect... There are some rides, especially in DCA where they have you go through the whole line with the wheelchair. It was a problem for us because my brother couldn't wait in long lines, or in the sun for too long because of his medications. We only ran in to one CM who gave us a hard time, and that was at the Buzz ride. For all 3 days we got to go through the Fastpass line on Buzz, but the last time we wanted to ride it this one girl CM wanted us to go through the whole line. We tried to explain his condition and that it wasn't that we just wanted to not have to wait. She wouldn't listen though, so we didn't ride. That ticked me off a bit, it's not like he just had a bad foot or something. I think they needed to look at each individuals needs a bit better. But like I said that was just one CM. The rest were very nice and helpful about it.

Oh and the pass said it was only good for 5 people. We had 5 people with us, so I'm not sure what they'd say for such a large party. I would count on not everyone being able to stick together with such a large group.

With a wheelchair, you can enter any special queues (ie exits or FP lines) with the wheelchair and 5 guests (6 including the person in the wheelchair).
