I will be going to Universal for the first time next week. I have severe arthritis and cannot walk very far or stand for long periods of time. Can anyone tell me what to expect for exploring Universal in a wheelchair. Also will I have to pay a new rental fee each day that we go? Thanks, Terry

Unless you have your own chair, you will have to pay a rental fee each day.

As for your exploration, you will find everything is accessible in one way or another. You will have to do a lot of transferring to ride vehicles.

Here are some local Orlando area places that rent wheelchairs and ecvs that DIS posters have used:

Sue is a great resource - are you staying onsite at Universal? If so, I STRONGLY recommend renting an ECV to have for your trip - you'll love the independence of being able to drive yourself - it is well worth the extra money. Staying onsite has hugh advantages - you can either take the boats or just "drive" your ECV to the theme parks or City Walk.

If you are staying off site- remember that the parking garage is quite a distance from the theme parks. Does anyone know if the parking attendents have wheelchairs you can use to get to the front gate at Universal/IOA or are these folks on their own????

If you plan on renting an ECV, you can go to the location right out of the garage and they will give you a wheelchair to get to the front gates. If you're planning on getting a wheelchair, then you can go ahead and rent one there and use it immediately.

Good luck:wave:

But let it be known that ECVs are not permittied in any ride queue. You'll either have to walk or take a transfer chair.
