I dont know if this is the right place for this question but I will ask anyway.

My DH will be taking his walker with skis on it. When we get to LGA he is going to have a wheelchair escort from gate to gate. We are planning to have breakfast. Will the wheelchair escort stop long enough for us to have breakfast & use the restrooms?

Also once we get to MCO will he be escorted from the plane to ME by wheelchair escort too? :confused3

Restroom yes, meal I don't think so - but you can ask.

And, yes - let your airline know now that you will be needing a wheelchair. They'll have (or get) one in both directions. Double-check with the Flight Attendant.

Asking nicely and tipping does wonders! Normally there will be no option for dining away from the gate and having the person escorting waiting. But if you ask nicely if they've got the time to get you to place A so you can eat and get back at time such and such to bring you to the gate, you might just be surprised. And yes; if they are willing to do this, it does deserve a nice tip as it will take them more time and is more inconvenient/not their actual job.

At MCO I was told over and over they are supposed to escort you to the DME-desk but it simply didn't happen. I had great assistance at my home airpot (AMS) had great assistance during the lay over (DTW), but MCO was like begging the walls to help me somewhere. The did bring my powerchair to the gate and my manual into the cabin, they promised to radio for assistance, they DID, but none ever showed up. So I just took it upon myself. Carry ons in my manual, manual in front of my powerchair, footrest of the powerchair out a bit and drive to the terminal slowly. It did the job, allthough it was quite a show. ;)

When flying back it was the same deal. My request for assistance was in the system, but yet again somehow nobody showed up. The guy helping me out with my luggage decided no problem. He just took me through security and to the gate.

At LGA there is food service in each of the "fingers". The times I have needed a wheelchair at LGA the escort would take me to the gate and leave me until time for boarding, and then return to take me down the ramp to the door at boarding time.

During the waiting period I was able to wheel over to get sandwiches, drinks, etc.

Here at MCO I was not using ME, but the escort took me to bagaage claim and then took me, with my baggage, outside to wait for my ride.
