Wheelchair Accident at MK

What the op was complaining about was being hit on the legs by someone on an ecv being impatient at the people in front walking too slowly. Why should anyone be expected to have eyes in he back of their head because someone doesn't want to go as slow as the crowd is going.

Thank you, Paula. it was actually a regular wheelchair with a metal footrest. The footrest is what did the damage.

And by the same token, pedestrians shouldn't jaywalk either.

Definitely not in Vegas! I was going to work one day, and was in the left turn lane--long line and we had a green arrow. The 3 thru lanes to the right were stopped on a red. I'm driving--just cruising really, up the lane, when this woman steps from between the stopped cars to my right.

:faint:

I couldn't pull to the left to avoid her--no center barrier, and there were cars coming towards me (they were turning right into that road). I was able to move over maybe 2 inches. She hit the right side, broke the mirror and headlight. Left a streak on the paint where her leather purse rubbed on the car. She broke her leg in 5 places.

I didn't get a ticket. I stopped as soon as I hit her, threw on my flashers, and called 911. The other people she was with came barreling across the street--one almost getting hit by a car that was moving forward (since the light had changed). She, however, was ticketed for jaywalking and causing an accident. :yay:

The police officer was very irritated with the people that kept trying to jaywalk WHILE HE WAS THERE WITH AN AMBULANCE. He wrote lots of tickets that day.....

And she wanted to sue me. The insurance company settled--even though I was 100% without fault---because it was cheaper than fighting a lawsuit. They fixed the car, and charged it back to her...came out to about a wash, but still mad me .

My boyfriend used a power wheelchair. We linger after Wishes, Fantasmic, or Illuminations. Sometimes we are the last people out of Fantasmic or close to the last people out of Epcot.

His safety is more important than getting out of the park quickly, plus Epcot is very romantic with the background music playing and no people ;).

This is exactly what I do in crowds, no matter if we are at Disney or my kids school plays, etc....everyone is in such a mad rush to leave if you just sit back and wait it is much less stressful. Someone has to be the last one out the parks. Please remember too that your kids and other kids are watching your actions. We lead by example to them.
