Got some great feed back from you all. So we don't have to travel with the scooter and collapsible wheelchair can anyone recommend a rental company we can rent a collapsible wheel chair from and have it delievered to the ship?

Thanks!
Tiffiny

I can't fully answer your question. The following are in Orlando (or close by) and normally deal with that area.

Walker Mobility:
1-888-726-6837
www.walkermobility.com

Care Medical:

RANDY'S Mobility is in Kissimmee 407-892-4777

Colonial Medical

However, you might call DCL and explain the situation. Ask them if they know of any place in the Port Canaveral area that does rentals. You might search Cocoa, Melbourne and Titusville. Since a chair does not rent for much, one of the Orlando companies might not want to send a truck an hour's drive each way.

I think Cheshire Figment is right.
I do remember reading a post from someone that had gone on a cruise and I'm pretty sure it said the Orlando companies did not rent for the cruise.
On my home computer, I have a link to an official Disney FAQs for cruisers with disabilities and I will check that when I get home and see if they have anything useful.

I just read your other post and that made me think about some things to add here.
If she has any special seating for her wheelchair, yiou might not be able to get just the same thing. Also, when renting a scooter, you want to get as close as possible to what she has so she feels comfortable using it. If she's gotten used to a three wheel model and all they rent out is 4 wheels, it will feel a little different to her. Be prepared when you call places with brand and model numbers.

Any info you could provide would be great! She is taking her scooter and we want to rent a collapsible wheelchair for the week. I remember last year reading a thread on a company that delivers to the ships but I did not write it down................

I did a Google search and came up with Care Medical. It is also one that Cheshire Figment listed above for me :)

They will rent a collapsible wheelchair for 1 week cruise for $55 and $20 delivery fee.

Yeah, thanks for your help. But now I have to worry about what to schedule for her in Grand Cayman.

Key West we will take the train or trolley.
Cozumel-taxi to Chakanab
Grand Cayman ????
Castaway Cay they have sand wheelchairs

I think CARE is a nation-wide company, so they might have a branch in Orlando and another closer to the cruise ship port.
Good that you found the wheelchair rental info yourself. And thanks for posting it, I'm sure someone else will find it helpful.
Here's the link to the Disney Cruise Line FAQ for Guests with Disabilities. It's not too helpful, though. It pretty much says things you already know. i was hoping it had some sort of special phone number, but it just refers you back to the reservation number. It does have an email address though, which might be helpful.

Hi,
I am plan on taking my Mom on DCL next year. She has a heart condition and can't walk far. According to an earlier thread that I posted Brevard Medical Equipment -www.brevardmedicalequip.com rents wheelchairs and scooters for use on cruises. They deliver to the terminal. I haven't used them myself but they have been recommended by other cruisers.
Their website has more information and a contact telephone number. Good Cruising!

So gladd that someone had this info. Thanks, Nancy.
