What's your standby "wait time limit"?

30 minutes or less but it depends on the ride.

For rides like Ariel, Monsters, and the dark rides in Fantasyland..only if they are 15 or less.

For Pirates I’ll wait 30-40 minutes because it moves pretty fast.

Soarin I refuse to wait longer than 20. That stand by line is soooo slow! It’s one of my favorites but I will only do it if I have a fastpass.

We have never waited more than 40 minutes and that was for RSR once and that was because it went down for a few minutes when we were in line. 30 minutes it a long wait from our past experience. However, everyone's expectations will be up for adjustment soon enough I'm afraid.

I'm trying to figure out what it would be at DL. WDW you can plan so well that I've never waited more than 30 minutes there and frankly only waited more than 15 minutes a handful of times. I'm in the midst of "planning" for DL and starting to feel like we're going to have to wait a lot more than we're used to. I'm sure it'll work out one way or another but not being able to plan it all out is driving me crazy...

Most of the time, 30 minutes. Occasionally I'll do 40 for Space Mountain or something big like that. Otherwise, I'm happier just skipping it.

How many days are you there?

There's no reason to wait for a single ride that offers FP, especially if you have Maxpass. If you have multiple days and prioritize rides that don't have FP in the early mornings/late evenings, it's usually pretty easy to knock them out with minimal waits.

For most rides 30 minutes. For Nemo we’ve done close to an hour before. My husband just loves that ride and likes to do it on the first day no matter the wait.

These are interesting comments. Everyone here is saying 20-30 minutes, with a couple 40 minute outliers.

So... who are all the people in the park waiting 45 minutes for Alice, or 70 for Space Mountain, or 100+ for RSR??? There must be so many of them (hence the long lines) yet not one of them visit this board?

Nah. The people on this board have strategy.

The average visitor often does not.

This is what I always wonder. Personally I hate waiting more than 15 minutes, and rarely do, but if you plan it right you rarely have to. It's a matter of knowing how FP and MaxPass work, single rider, rope dropping, etc. I'm perfectly willing to get up at the crack of dawn for a Magic Morning and maximize my FP collection. I suspect those who are in those 100 minute lines are people who just don't know there's a method, or can't be bothered to learn? Maybe local residents who show up after school or work, too late to get a FP for the headliners.

30 minutes is our "ehhhhh too long" time, but I know we definitely waited over 2 hours for RSR in 2013.

I waited 3 hours to ride Rocket Rods and am glad I did as that ride is long gone. My max wait time these days would probably be an hour. We always go to DLR for 5 days so are not rushed. If I were on a tighter schedule I would probably cut that time to 30 minutes.

Alice , and PP are exceptions to the rule for me (and others I suspect). They have no FP and most of the day, these two have 40-50 min wait times and unless you hit them during one of the brief moments that they have short lines, it’s wait or skip. I’ve skipped PP plenty of times over the years, but Alice is one of my favorite rides so I’ll wait in that line a couple times or more per trip unless it’s over an hour.

I suspect that Space Mtn, Indy and RSR standby lines are filled with families that can’t use single rider, most likely not paying extra for MaxPass, and either have late in the day fastpasses or missed out on getting some. I bet that in the afternoons and evenings, the standby lines also have AP SoCal locals in them who got to the park too late to get FP.

It really depends. I prefer not to wait more than 20 minutes, but we’ll wait longer for Peter Pan (with a snack) or a handful of other rides, depending on the situation. If we’re with infrequent guests, we’ll cater to them since we go so much.

Funny and slightly relevant story: my daughter has been on Star Tours dozens of times, but we’ve only ever used FP or gone if it’s a walk-on. So on Saturday night, we’re there with friends who decide to jump in a 40-minute standby wait in the evening, so we’re in the little room off to the side that’s part of the regular queue. My daughter: “What IS THIS PLACE? But where does it go? Why are we in here? DO ALL THE LINES HAVE ROOMS I DON’T KNOW ABOUT?!”

i can relate to this- that to me is the one drawback of MaxPass. I miss the lines; Disney has always been very good at keeping crowds entertained and i haven't seen the line on hardly any rides; especially this last time. I purposely made my son go back through the standby line at Roger Rabbit because it is one of the greatest lines IMO.

And to answer the initial question: A new ride that stand by is the only option i am willing to wait up to 1 hour. If it's a fastpass ride then totally spoiled- 20 minutes.

20 - 30 minutes are our max waiting time for rides but we go often enought so if we miss a ride, then it's no big deal. Our first ride on RSR back in 2012, we waited for over 2 hours too but that was before we starting doing annual trips and being more familiar with FP and getting to the parks early.

I think many of those people do not visit these boards. And people who wait are probably people on once in a lifetime trip and will wait no matter what. Over Christmas Holiday in 2017 the wait for Winnie the pooh got to 40 minutes. That ride is almost always less than 5 minutes.

One other thing to consider is that some people may not mind the long lines (up to a point that is more than many would prefer at least).

For me, growing up in the 80s, there was no FP and the queue times were all there was. As a result, I feel like I’m conditioned to the standby experience and don’t mind it that much. I’ll occasionally stand in a longer than usual HM line or Pirates when it’s wrapping around all over the place. It gives me a chance to soak in the ambiance and atmosphere of the park or that queue in particular. I learned how to have fun in a line. I’ll look for the details that can get overlooked. The funny tombstones on Boot Hill. Watching the teacups while in line for Alice. All the prospector gear in BTMRR. The more theming the queue has also adds to it for me. For me, standing in the RR cartoon spin queue is part of the attraction. So was Indy’s queue before they mucked with the timings so you end up rushing past all that cool theming in the temple.

If it was just about the rides, it wouldn’t be DL.

I think the absolute max posted wait I will do is 45 mins but generally the max I'll wait is 20-30 mins.

I agree with this. If this was my once in a lifetime trip, I would wait too :-)
