What's your procedure for changing lenses?

I saw a trick of putting a few strips of double-stick tape inside the body cap to collect any dust that may be around. It may work since I have not had any problems with dust since I started using the tape. It also may work as well for keeping elephants off the monorail, I haven't seen any of them since I started using the tape either! ;)

I rarely ever have the body cap on my cameras. They almost always have a lens on them. To get the same effect, I put clear double sided sticky tape on the rear lens element.

The body cap hasn't been on mine since the lens went on the day I got it. :)

Now where do you find super clear tape to put on the lens? :rotfl2:

seriously the only times i had gotten smunk on my old sensor had been the couple times i forgot to turn off the camera when i changed lenses. even after a couple yrs of pretty heavy use that was only getting to 5 or 6 spots i noticed and had to clone out. i think with the sensor cleaning now ( auto) and reasonable care it shouldn't be that bad of a problem, especially if your camera turns off when you remove a lens

I loosen the end caps on the lens that is about to go on the camera and get another one ready for the lens that is on the camera. I turn to face away from the wind :lmao: and swap the lenses. :) I keep the camera level, neither up or down. :) I never use the camera cap since a lens is always attached.

Pretty simple. :)

Can't say I have every had a problem doing it this way. I used to clean my lenses frequently. Don't really bother anymore. :confused3 Can not tell the difference between a squeeky clean front glass vs not squeeky clean. :)

I do protect the gear as best I can in a bag when not in use. I just saw a person at a soccer game walking to the cars. I had put up my camera in its bag. She was still wearing her outfit. :) I am guessing she had at least a D300. She had the 70-200/F2.8 lens that is $2,000 from B&H. Plus she had a flash on the camera. VERY bright daylight. Fill flash yes but during a soccer game? I am guessing she had at least $3,000 worth of gear hanging around her neck.

To get to the cars you have to cross a dirt road and cars where really kicking up the dust. I just cringed thinking of all that dust around the camera equipment. Just can't believe she spent thousands on equipment and did not buy a bag.

Later,
Dan
