Whats your preferred airline that you use?

Southwest. You can check two bags and carry on another with the price of your ticket. Plus they fly out of Midway which is much easier to navigate than O'hare.

Southwest 90% of the time and almost always to Orlando. American or United when we have miles to use and/or are traveling cross-country (although we've used SWA on a few trips to Phoenix and Las Vegas).

People must pack an absolute TON of stuff if the two free checked bags on Southwest is such a perk. I think I've maybe checked a bag twice over 100+ flights over the last decade.

Any airline that is not American, I personally had too many issues with them when I was using them for work travel. My top choices are Southwest and United (DH has good status so it is worth it), I have also had good experiences with Alaska and JetBlue, DH often flies Virgin and has had good experiences, I haven't flown Delta in a long time, and don't see that changing in the future due to routes and pricing.

I've always wondered who could possibly need two checked bags. I know people complain about Frontier because you pay for carryon and checked bags, but we use backpacks or other bags under our seats for free most of the time and when we all travel together the five of us can get away with one checked bag. That one bag only added about $12RT to each of our tickets on our last trip and we still flew for only $100RT each in December. I looked at Southwest and it was significantly more. Maybe it depends on where you fly from though.

I guess I’m an outlier that prefers Delta. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with them. I can tolerate SW when needed.

Well, if you had a child in college across the country it would come in handy! She's graduated now but we still are carting some of her stuff to her when we visit. I check one bag quite a bit when we visit our kids on the west coast, or most times when a trip is over a week in duration. When you know you can check a bag for free it is tempting to do that and not have a large carryon, I can just board with my tote bag. Even one free bag adds up over time.

I prefer American because while living in one of their hub cities I gained enough status for free luggage check and preferred seating. At this point, for me, it’s the only airline I can pick a good seat in advance and not have to worry about baggage fees. It also allows me to board early so I don’t worry about overhead space. With a credit card I have access to their lounge, which makes it easy to show up early for flights and still have the room and amenities to relax. The credit card also gives me free Global Entry, which includes TSA pre-check.

If you fly a decent amount, pick an airline and add up your miles to get status. Get an airline card that gives you perks. It will change the way you view travel. On that rare occasion I have to fly some other airline I realize air travel can really be awful.

Oh, sure. I get that. I just couldn't fathom needing (or wanting) to take multiple checked bags on vacation.

Or a disabled adult who can’t lift a bag into the over head compartment

Love sw btw

Open seating
Free checked bags
Non stop flights

We frequently combine a 7-night or longer cruise with resort stays at both WDW and one of the Florida beaches. The total trip might be as long as three weeks. We each check one bag, and when flying SW, we might take advantage of the ability to add another checked bag for free to have a separate bag for the fancier clothes we enjoy wearing on formal night on the cruise. So a total of three checked bags for the two of us is not out of the question.

Usually Southwest. Mainly because of the non stop flights and free checked bags. We have a small airport so most of the major carriers don’t offer non stop flights to very many places.

Agreed. I usually go with the airline that gives me the better price for the trip I want with the ability to select a seat in advance, either Delta or American. With a credit card for both airlines, I can check luggage for free (as far as is allowed by the card and airline). No one airline is perfect. Any flight on any day could have issues. But for me, securing a frequent flyer number with the airline, picking up the credit card and securing TSA PreCheck make the process of travel less stressful. And that's all I ask these days when I'm flying.

We fly out of PHL. When we go to MCO we use Southwest. Their flight options stink (not too many direct), but we’ve always had good experiences with them. We only fly direct.

It is Southwest for us. We strongly prefer to fly out of our small local airport and Southwest offers non-stops to Orlando. And we like the Southwest experience. I flew a bit for work and got to experience many airlines and Southwest was my favorite. Except for the short period of time many years ago when I got frequent flyer status on Northwest for frequent trips to the west coast.

DW got a Southwest credit card and most of our flying is on points.

I was going to say the same thing. I've never checked more than one bag for WDW. But I have escorted two of my children to/from DCP three times. They usually need four suitcases by themselves. In fact, I have to go retrieve her in early January. I'm positive we will have all of four large suitcases and two carry-on's. She tends to buy a lot of "stuff" when left alone in WDW for 5 months :)

We used to be faithful to JetBlue but they went on a terrible streak of flights with big delays that we switched to delta. I’ve been using them for 4 or 5 years for girls’ weekends plus the last year with DH for vacations and we’ve been pretty happy with them so far.

Southwest. Other airlines have cheaper fares, but the free checked bags goes a long way! Especially when going to Disney.

Well....the vast majority of people check at least one bag. My dh couldn't go for more a day without a checked bag. His using a carry on bag would mean he was going overnight...maybe. That would be a stretch. He badly overpacks. I can get away with a carry on bag only for trips under 4 nights. But, if I have a free checked bag, then I'll use it. I refuse to pay for a checked bag.
When my dd moved to Orlando a year ago, we flew SW....and we had 6 checked bags!!!! When dh and I returned home, we had 2!!

I fly either SW or JB. I seldom even look at other airlines when looking for flights. Just not worth the hassle. I haven't flown with a legacy without having some kind of issue along the way. So, I choose to avoid them now.
