What's your opinon on the Autograph books?

My kids have enjoyed filling the autograph book we made together much more than those we purchased in other trips. They like the idea of collecting autographs, although they will still line up for their favorite characters. I agree that when they were younger it was a great way for my shy kids to approach the characters.

I didn't think much of the autograph books on our last trip, didn't even think the kids would be interested in them, but as it turns out they loved them and it really did work wonders for my very shy five year old niece. We are going back in May and I'm making an autograph/scrapbook album for this trip. One side will be for a picture and the other side of the page is for the autograph. I won't be waiting in any long lines for characters though (except maybe for Cinderella) Even though the kid's loved the autographs, they weren't
"obsessed" with getting them and would much rather be doing the rides and attractions than waiting in a long character line.

I could tell the books were kind of a pain for the costume characters like Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, ect...so I made sure the books were open and ready, with big fat pen out and uncapped to make it as fast and easy as possible. If everyone did this, I'm sure the lines would move alot faster.

I wonder if the CM behind the characters just get sick of them.

But some of those characters do have wonderful penmanship.

We had the BEST time getting autographs on our last trip! We fixed up the small-sized Creative Memories scrapbooks for autographs with stickers, etc. That way we had special pages for each character. We added more pages when we got home for pictures. While the characters were talking/playing with DD's, they signed the books. We had both books open and pens ready for each character. That made it go much more smoothly.

Some of our funnest memories of our trip were from getting the autographs. Captain Hook was hysterical, making a big deal over having to sign on a page with Peter Pan's sticker! He had the whole line laughing. When we later got Peter Pan's signature, he messed around with Hook's signature and made a "stinking codfish" out of part of the signature! It was great! DD's have loved looking at the signatures over the last couple of years.

They are already planning on getting autographs again on our upcoming trip. Oldest DD is 12 and more excited about it now than the first time around!
