Assuming you either don't go out New Years' Eve, or have dinner early for the kids then go out, what do you have for NYE?
My mother had a tradition I love to follow--all food must be store-bought pre-prepared. Outside of heating something up, she refused to do any actual cooking on NYE. Her thinking was that she was all cooked out by the end of the holiday season and wanted to end the holidays and begin the New Year on a convenientand realistic note. Face it, the three main components of the holidays are presents, decorations, and food.(oh, yes, love, peace, joy, ....I'm talking about the tangible parts). It was her way of getting back to normal, and she was pretty tired of cooking by then. I remember she had a buffet of cold cuts, cheeses, salads, cake, etc. Worked out great for various comings and goings. Its hard to settle a group down at once on NYE.
Just wondering what the rest of you do!
