Whats your middle name and why ?

Leigh. My dad's middle name was Lee, so I got the female derivative. When I was in 3rd grade, I decided to have my name officially changed at school (only) to my middle name because, being born in the 70s, there were a million Jennifer's in my class (my 1st name.) So, Leigh I was. You would NOT believe how many teachers misprounced that name - I got "Lay", "Leeah," "Leslie(??)" etc. I went back to going by Jennifer (or Jen, but NEVER Jenny) when I went to college. I now have high school friends that I stayed in touch with that call me Leigh, but my family (including my husband who I met in college) all call me Jen. Sometimes I feel like a split personality!

My mother used to say "Grace" was my middle name because I was a total klutz. I would trip over air.

I was named after my grandmothers because my dad wanted me to have a name I wouldn't have to change when I became a nun. But I never went by that name. I was called indygirl almost from the first day of life because my dad made a comment about how I was such and independent girl (I was a preemie).

Going to catholic school the nuns called me by my given (nun) name but all my classmates called me by my dads nickname for me.

My mom wanted me to be Dawn Marie but my father said, nope...she looks like a Pamela Lee. (they use to get tongue tied when they called me by both names lol) Seemed weird to me though since all of the other Pamelas that I knew were named Pamela Jean (and my mom's name was Jean) But I got stuck with Lee.

Robert, thats my dads first name and apparently (we all Yankees) there is some rebel in the blood, and he was named after Robert E Lee

My Mom's first name is my middle name, my Dad's first name is my oldest brothers middle name. My second brother is named (first and middle name) after my dad's best friend who died while my Mom was pregnant with my brother.

My daughter's middle name is my MIL first name. My son's middle name is the same as my husband and FIL first name.

Apparently, we should add "Michelle" to the list of common female middle names. I'm a Michelle also.

My sister came first. She got my mother's first name as her middle name.

When I came along, I got my father's first name as my middle name. But I'm a girl. My father is Robert, so my middle name became Roberta.

I didn't like it when I was younger. It didn't seem "pretty" enough. I love it now though. My parents are awesome and I love that my sister and I carry their names with us.

Was a Michelle - for no particular reason and I was never that attached to it. Dropped it and took my maiden name as my middle name.

I sometimes wish I would have kept my maiden name.

I wish I had officially taken my maiden name as my middle name or kept my maiden name. I was in the military and my last name became my first name... So I felt like I lost part of my identity when I got married.

Ann because my mom got her way. Otherwise it would have been Ada for my paternal grandmother. Yikes.

Christine because I was named after a little girl that was dumped at my parents house before I was born. They finally came back for her so I got her name.

My middle name is Ann. I believe because my mom had 6 girls and just gave up - 3 of us have Ann as a middle name. LOL. Although I was born in the early 70s and my sisters are 15-20 years older than me and my maternal aunt's first name was Ann also.

LaVerne. My family calls me Vern or Vernie.

My father's mother was Miriam LaVerne (that was almost my name..) but she hated the name Miriam and went by LaVerne. So, I was nearly Miriam, almost Heidi, but ended up with the name Ashley LaVerne. Which is a nice change of pace because everyone else born in 1990 is Ashley Marie.

Deniene, it was my mother's imaginary friend when she was a child. She wanted to make it my first name but my dad said no, thank you Daddy!

I haven't seen Rene on here. In the '70's every girl I knew had Lynn, Lee, or Rene.

Another here without a middle name, though my first name is two very common shorter names pushed together as one. No space or hyphen, or capitalization in the middle.
