Whats your go to lens?

I`m seriously considering the Sigma 18-35 before my next trip. Is it all they say it is?

I'm absolutely loving it. Everything good you've been hearing is true. It's wonderfully sharp; and the focus has been spot on. The only other sigma lens i have experience with is the "older" 30mm. That lens was hit or miss when it came to focus. That's the only reason i mention how well the 18-35 handles in that regard. Yes, I'm somewhat scarred. ;)

Too bad it wasn't a little lighter. But given how it performs, I'm cool with it.

My go-to lens for Disney parks is the Nikon 18-200.

But, most of the time I don't need that "long" of a lens. I find that in the MK and the Studios, most of my shots are in the 18-110 range. In Epcot (especially World Showcase) and DAK though, the 200 end gets a lot more use.

I've been using an old Nikon 35 mm f/2 quite a bit. Just bought the Sigma 35 mm f/1.4 and I can't wait to use it at Disney in a few days!

This is my other go-to lens. If this isn't on my camera body, my 50 mm is. The only downside to this is I have started noticing how heavy it can be after carrying it around my neck for a few hours. That being said, I do love carrying this lens!

My go to was the Nikon 55-200, but I recently purchased the 18-270mm Tamron. I prefer the all-in one and I find that it takes solid shots! If you have the time, you can actually rent a lens that will work best for you. I did it on our trip to Miami last year and it was great to have no bag, just my camera! Now that I have my new lens, I will do the same for our WDW trip later this year!

My go-to lens is a 12-35 f/2.8 (micro 4/3) which is similar to 18-55 on APS-C and equivalent to 24-70 on full frame. There must be a reason why this length (angle of view) is so popular. :)

lately for indoor shots I've been going to the Sigma 30mm 1.4 but I can see the utility of something like the 18-135IS for places like Disney

I have it for my Canon 40D and love it!!!!!!!!!! Although the combination is a bit heavy, it still works for a go to lens when traveling. Another Sigma that I have is the 85 f1.4, and it is equally good for low light, but doesn't work as a walk around lens. I also have a 28-70 (or something like that) f 2.8 for my Sony A77, and that combination is also wonderful as a walk around. I used both the Sony and Canon on my trip to Morocco last month and was surprised that I used the longer telephoto more than the wider angle lens for most of my shots.

I went to Morocco in late November/early December. When I went I took my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. I didn't want to worry about multiple lens while traveling light. It was a useful range but I missed my telephoto lens.

On a crop sensor my go-to lens is actually the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. My Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (which everyone on this thread seems to love) has only been used on one Disney trip. Just one. The range is understandably useful but the f/2.8 aperture was too narrow for me. It's handy dandy in good lighting though. But for me, the 30mm f/1.4 gets significantly more use. If I know I can only bring one lens then the 30mm f/1.4 is definitely the one I'll choose.
However, my runner up would be my Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6. It's a very versatile lens and great for shows, portraits, and details.

Now that I've jumped to the Sony a99 full frame my current go to lens is the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4. And once again, that same Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 would be my runner up. Especially since the Tamron is wider on the a99.
