Whats your favorite thing to do in the rain at WDW?

My next trip home is quickly approaching, and the forcast has a lot of rain in it.

I was wondering how everyone dealt with the rainy days while still having a wonderful time.

In tha past I have used a rainy day to visit disney quest. This time we have only regular ap,s. That can wind up costing a whole lot with a family of 5.


What do the rest of you do????

We enjoy MK. The rain never last that long and the park empties quickly!

I agree. We always head to the parks in the rain. No lines, no waiting, no people.

We tend to do exactly the opposite of what the crowd is doing, and most of the time they head for something indoors (Hall of Presidents, eateries, shops, etc.) This is when the line for something like Splash Mountain shortens.

Go on RIDES! alot of people leave the park so it's empty. And alot of the rides are indoor's so does it matter?

Personally I prefer to head back "home" and sit on the balcony with a good book. Or (even better) take a nap. I'd rather not trudge around the parks in the rain.

We keep on going. The parks often empty and the rides shorten. One of my best was leaving MK in the pouring rain and heading to Epcot by monorail. It had stopped raining at Epcot and I was thinking about Test Track. Several people on the monorail were talking about doing Test Track. As we passed Test track I could see that it was closed-lots of folks standing around but no lines. I know that Test Track closes in the rain. As I overheard them talking I mentioned that TT was closed because of the rain. I pointed out the obviously closed area-no lines, CMs answering questions as we passed.
I headed to Innoventions for a while. About 20 minutes later I headed over to TT to see what was up and as I arrived out front they opened the lines again as it started up after the rain. Whee I zipped right on - single rider of course. It was my shortest wait ever for TT!

Sometimes we go shopping in the rain. Lunch at Celebration is nice or afternoon tea at GF, 'rent' a video at Hank's and watch it at 'home', the movies at DD. But check out the forecast. The Weather Channel is pretty good at forecasting the latest weather.
Last year at BWV I saw that a line of thunderstorms was headed from the northwest to the southeast right towards us. The CM at Leaping Libations (by the Luna Park pool) said no the rain would pass us by. This as the Weather Channel over his head was showing the radar with the storm approaching. I said "no, it's in Clermont and heading southwest right towards us." Sure enough the rains came just a few minutes later-thunder, lightening, wind and pouring rain. It made for a cozy evening in front of the TV watching videos.

I usually just put on a poncho and go on with the plans that I had for the day as closly as possible. At EPCOT, I usually tend to do the American Adventure, Maelstrom, Mexico, or the movies. At MGM, I usually head to Magic of Disney Animation, Great Movie Ride, MuppetVision, or Millionare, and at AK it's on to Rafiki's Planet Watch or the gift shops. My plans for MK usually don;t change too much in the rain except for I avoid the outdoor carnival rides like Dumbo or Astro Orbiter and also Big Thunder and Splash (I hate getting water in my eyes going on those fast rides in the rain). Also I usually have a nice meal to stay out of the rain.

Grab a poncho and keep right on going! As others have said, the parks empty out. Lines are short!

Another vote for going ahead with plans. We stay indoors when it is thundering, but rain just serves to clear the park out.

Buy inexpensive ponchos before you go. The ones at the park are nice enough, but they're all the same color, so everyone in your party will disappear into a crowd of people wearing them. But if your group has a different color, you'll always be able to find each other.

We're from the Pacific Northwest. What's a little rain? Anyway, one of my fondest memories @ WDW was 12/02. The weather had been perfect the entire week until we stepped off the monorail to attend MVMCP. The skies opened up and it just poured, and poured, and poured! We put on some cheap rain ponchos and hit every ride we could. As the evening wore on, the crowds got thinner and thinner. We found ourselves at Splash Mountain with no one in line. After talking to the CM operating the ride, we found out she was from Portland. We loaded into the front section of our "log" with plastic hoods intact and went for the ride of our lives! Since there was no one in line, our Portland "friend" let us keep going over and over again until we begged for mercy. As we were finally exiting the ride we stopped to look at our photo...empty log, empty log, empty log, and so on. Finally, there we were: a family of soaking wet, garbage-bagged idiots grinning from ear to ear.

So for the question, what to do in the rain? Anything you want. You'll be @ WDW and life is good !!!

A few years ago we were caught in the rain in AK. Everyone started running away, and we hopped on the safari. The animals were out in force and very active. It was one of the best safari experiences we ever had.
