It has been about 20 years since I camped at Ft. Wilderness! I now have my own kiddos and we are ready to take the plunge into the camping world. We have a trip booked for the second week of December. What are some of your favorite things to do around the Ft. Wilderness area? We have stayed at the Lodge, but never ventured over to the campground.

Thanks!!

Since you will be there in Dec have to say my wife and I love to wander, bike or ride through the various loops to admire the decorations fellow campers have decorated their sites and cabins.DISNEY offers sleigh ride that does this but we like doing more at our pace. Another night activity is head for beach and catch fireworks and The Electric Water Parade are freebies that have yet to fail to thrill us.
During the day a trip to the pool is good for a few hours as is some time spent with a rod and reel. The GIRLS ie our 2 Official Delaware Heathen Hounds love to walk around and see the sites and find kids to play with. They also like walking along the canals and finding geckos to protect mommy and daddy from.
My wife has to go see if Dan is in the barn to say Hi and if Blacksmith is working he amazes me
I have also gone around doing recon for other friends who want to go and have questions about various areas.
would love to try archery range but not sure targets can handle my bow ( just added to my list of things to bring and things to learn)
We did Segway tour of campground several years ago and loved Campfire program can be a blast more so if you like the moie they are showing.

Wow! Thanks! One of my girls is an avid rider and loves all things related to horses, so we will check out the barn. I had no idea they have the archery range! Thanks for all of the great ideas!

The campfire sing-a-long with Chip & Dale followed by an outdoor movie occurs every night and we go at least once each trip. Lots of folks roast marshmallows.

I concur with the wandering. With the holiday decorations all around it's definitely worth taking the time to enjoy the sites.

Nothing!!
I was going to put that too...
The DW, however has other plans. After all we are at Disney, so we should make the most of it right? :car: The problem is, is that I do all the driving, I do the Camper Setup/teardown (well the labor intensive and Messy stuff - aka sewer stuff), I do the De-winterizing/Re-Winterizing as well as being a pack mule in the parks. After a trip to the Fort and WDW, I need another vacation to recover. (Okay, I recover by going back to work. I do less then on a WDW Vacation! :crazy2: )

So while I'd LIKE to do "Nothing" :snail:I don't get that option! :)

I totally understand this and I will say
When it comes to the fort I like to keep my park says shorter so we can enjoy the relaxing air that the fort brings. Last time we did a 2 night stay and went to the parks I really felt cheated, like we should have just stayed at the values! We are doing in May and we have decidedno parks (and we are pass holders) I'm kind of looking forward to long days just relaxing!

Oh gosh now I feel bad for my poor husband. ;)

But alas at least I do all the planning, the packing, the shopping, etc. And I really want to learn to drive with the trailer this summer so I can do some of the driving next trip. I won't back in the trailer though, he was a trucker for years and he's a pro at backing up and I know I'll never be as good as him.

Getting up early in the morning, before most of the other guests do. Fix a cup of coffee and take my camera and just go walking. Pics of the lake in front of the Bike Barn when it is perfectly still and looks like a mirror. The fog still hanging in the bushes. This is the best time for wildlife viewing. You can get any rocking chair you want on the porch.

I will say that my DW does an AMAZING (I cannot stress that enough) job at the planning and also getting things at the absolutely best price (well except when she pushes for the DDP. I don't think the value is really there for us). She is also awesome in getting the kids to do their stuff and getting it loaded (although I end up being a pack mule here too). She said she WOULD drive as long as it wasn't in big cities or heavy traffic o_O but she would want me to be awake.. :guilty: Oh well.. I guess I will just drive.

She absolutely would NOT try and back it. She is okay driving the truck. She would also be okay with driving a larger Class A as long as we were not towing anything. That's okay.... I will deal with it and do my part. It's The Fort after all...

I love getting up before anyone else and taking the golf cart to refill my mug with coffee. It's a small thing, but one I really love to do.

I go snipe hunting and skunk ape hunting! As well as grapefruit hunting.

During xmas - hope a boat to contemporary - then resort hope down the mono rail or make the ride over and back to epcot

My favorite thing to do at the Fort is pulling in through the entrance gate. :)

Second is cruising around in a golf cart.

Third is probably Hoop-De-Doo Revue.

My family likes riding our bikes all around! We ride to WL and get a meal or treat (or coffee the last trip, brr!), and then back on the trail. I just got a new bike and handed mine down to my daughter, so I can't wait to bike around again. It's so easy to ride around for us....we are from the hills around Atlanta and it is so nice and flat at the Fort.

Just enjoying the sites, sounds and smells. Nothing beats the Fort, Home Away From Home!

Pulling in the front gate to check in, I still get excited to arrive and know the fun has just started. It is always like our first time there even though we have been there many times. We love the fort!
