What's your favorite items on San Angel Inn menu?

Their's is not "homemade" mole.(Ever read a written (lengthy) recipe for mole?) They make it from one of those little glass jars (a concentrated paste) and follow the directions. It is good, though. (If you like Mole sauce.) You're so right--many people really do not like Mole! But those of us who do crave it! I can not think how to put into words what mole tastes like except what I've already written above.

Another vote for the chicken mole and the margaritas. Also, if you like your salsa spicy, you can ask for a "kicked up" version, although it was a bit hot for my hubby--and he loves the hot stuff.

Bob's got me worried I won't like the mole now.:( I wonder if they'd let me taste it first?

Hi Jennymouse! It sounds like unsweetened chocolate sauce over chicken to me. I'd definitely ask to taste it first before I ordered it. That's just me, though. :o :D :D

I wouldn't eat unsweetened chocolate sauce over anything, but I love mole. It's more like a spicy gravy that's dark brown with chocolate (but not a sweet chocolate). You might just order it and if you really don't like it I'm sure they'd bring you something else.

When I was younger I hated mole. I haven't eaten much of it as an adult because it is rarely available. I really liked SAI's mole. My husband had had mole in Mexico City several times on a trip the year before and said it was as good as what he had there. Having said that it is not for everybody. It is actually a sweet, spicy taste. I do not know whether they would let you have a sample first, but it never hurts to ask.

They make excellent beef dishes at SAI that I would recommend for people that aren't too adventurous.

I had the Mexican salad and it was out of this world.
