What's your favorite Disney guide book?

Where do most of you purchase your guides? I bought the Official guide at Barnes and Noble but was looking for a cheaper place to buy a different one....I'm thinking of getting the Passporter but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg...

For the Passporter, if you order directly from www.passporter.com you get an automatic 15% discount. :)

My favorite is The Unofficial Guide, but Birnbaums makes one called Disneyworld For Kids By Kids. It is an excellent guide for your kids. It has activities and planning guides for them.

Without reading all the posts on this thread, I would say "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" by Bob Schlinger, is the best - hands down. (Look for the 2007 edition due out soon.)

Enjoy.

I love Passporter so much. It has everything I could ever think of in it. I have used Birnbaum's, which is pretty good, just not very much info in it. I bought the Unofficial Guide, but it was very out of date- it had food rocks in it- so we had to return it. I'm pretty sure it was the bookstore's fault, though.

I like the UG for information. I only use the Passporter for planning and organization. I have the deluxe ringbinder and have used it for non disney vacations. I also love the website: allearsnet.com

Passporter and unoffical guide.........I've bought TOO many others but those are the two that I most often refer to for information I need at my finger tips....and as stated previously the pocket organizers are great....just use pencil when filling them out.......I've made the mistake of writing in pen then changed plans too many times to count.

Just give me my passporter, everything is convenient and the pockets for each day keeps everything organized from your travel down and back to each day at the parks and reservation numbers. Very very handy. :thumbsup2

Passporter gets my vote, its in color, has large color maps of everything, touring plans that can be removed from the book and various pages for writing things such as ADR or tours down. Also gives opinions from various points of view (children of different ages and adults of different tastes).

I was on amazon.com and saw that you can pre-order both Birnbaum (Oct. 1 $11.02) and Unofficial Guide (Aug. 21 $12.34). I think I'll get both! :yay:

Ditto!! :thumbsup2

I like these three:

--UG, especially when I was less familiar with the parks
--Passporter, as a convenient catch-all for all the information I collect
--Birnbaum's, because for some reasons--maybe the pictures and relatively laid-back focus on trip planning, especially compared to other books?-- it's the book that convinces DH we should go! :cool1:

The Passporter is a combination "travel guide, planner, organizer, journal and keepsake!" It has a section for the resorts and gives several pages of information for each. It lists all of the restaurants and rates them. It lists all of the attractions with descriptions. There are also nice, small pull out maps of each park. The unique part of the guide are the pockets in the back, where you write each day's itenerary on the front and can jot memories on the back. These pockets provide a spot for tickets or other stuff you want to save.

My absolute favorite is the Unofficial Guide, with the Passporter a close second. I love the UG and buy it every year even if I'm not planning a trip - I enjoy keeping up-to-date (although the DIS is even better for that) and I enjoy reading the reviews of attractions and restaurants there - the dry humor is appealing. I buy a Passporter when I'm actually headed to WDW. I like the planning sheets and the pockets in the back to put my tip envelopes in - as well as the "Memories" sections to record our thoughts about each day.
