We've not been to any of the dinner shows at WDW. I was thinking about trying one our arrival night on our trip in January. It's me, hubby, 12DS, 9DD, 7DS, and 3DD.

So which is your favorite dinner show and why? Thanks!

Heather

Hoop dee doo revue is the best! It's been an annual tradition the last six years! We like it because the food is great (BBQ heaven!), the show is so entertaining (the singer Six bit is hilarious) , and we love the resort grounds. It's just overall a really fun experience!

Yep, HDDR for us, too. We've been going there since the 80s. The show is a lot of fun for all ages, and the food is good, basic chicken and ribs with the fixins. And then there's the all you care to drink beer, wine and sangria fir the grownups.

We did the luau once. Food was barely adequate, and we weren't fans of the show (we'd been to real luaus in Tahiti and Fiji.

Mickeys BBQ is outside and geared to young children and their long suffering parents. Two strikes against it for us.(I don't like the heat, and we don't have little kids)

Definitely HDDR- so much fun for kids and adults. I have laughed myself to tears at this show and there is great audience interaction here. Food is good old fried chicken, ribs, taters. Can't go wrong with that. Also to note-we had DGS along one year and he was on a mac and cheese kick-no problem they brought some from over at Trail's End for him.

The Luau is just not the same-we seem to always end up in the back corner and the food and show is just meh--we go to Ohana for the Polynesian food.

I have done the luau twice, I wasn't a fan the first time and the second time I went under duress. HDDR, I've done many times voluntarily, I find the food and show much more enjoyable.

Another vote for HDDR. We love it and have been many times. The food is good "down home" cooking and the show is enjoyable.
That said, I would NOT do it on my arrival day for 2 reasons.
Travel day is very tiring. You have probably been up early and there are always unexpected, uncontrollable potential delays. If you are delayed and miss your ADR, you will pay IN FULL for the show. I would never put that kind of stress on the beginning of my trip.

Kids that young probably would enjoy MBBBQ. They have character dancing and such. If the hokey pokey is your thing then I'd choose hddr. SOA may be too boring for young kids although it's our must do each trip.

HOOP DEE DO!
Seriously, we're those nerds who have been way too many times. We've always enjoyed the food, the vegetarian/vegan/pescitarian (sp?) options are all delicious, service is 98% of the time fantastic, and the show is ALWAYS a riot, plus the unlimited drinks!

We did the Luau a few years ago, and while the food was absolutely incredible, and the service was fantastic, the show itself wasn't the greatest, might've also been that it was pretty cold that night.
