whats your favorite deck and why?

We love deck 5 just because it is doesn't have as many rooms and I don't have to go down a never ending hall. My DD will be a teen next time we go, but it was so close to the kids club/lab when my daughter was younger. It is in the middle and was close to everything! It is where the no-so-secret porthole categroy 10s are located. Gotta love deck 5!

For our stateroom, deck six because we can walk a few flights up or down to get where we are going.
Otherwise, deck 9 at the adult pool.

I loved deck two for our room because we were close to the restaurants and could take the stairs instead of waiting for elevators. When we were at port we were only one deck up from where we got off and when we came back we didn't need to wait for elevators, just took the stairs up one flight.

As to enjoyment, deck 4 was the best for walking in the mornings.

I like deck 7 aft for staterooms, deck 10 forward, above the Quiet Cove pool, for general lounging about.

We love deck 5. In all of cruises, we've always had our cabins on deck 5 and wouldn't change it. (Unless of course I was in a big suite!) My kids love being near the movie theatre and the clubs and I think it's so close to everything, plus quiet.

for a stateroom deck 7 cat 7 for a place to relax deck 4 or deck 7 hidden deck area. fun in the sun deck 9 adult pool.

For staterooms we have enjoyed Decks 5, 6 & 7 equally. We will be on Deck 2 on our October '04 cruise and are looking forward to it.

For relaxation/entertainment I like Deck 4. There are the comfy deck chairs plus Studio Sea, the shops and the Walt Disney Theater.

We've been on deck 5 and 7 but 5 is our favorite. The location close to the kids club is great for us. I also agree with the fact that there is not alot of rooms so there isn't a never ending hallway as someone else put it. That was a hugh turn off for me on deck 7. Deck 5 seems more private because of the fact that there is only a few rooms down each side. We have a SPH booked for our next cruise on 5.

For Staterooms, I love Deck 8... It's nice and close to the pools (just one flight up), but it's a good walk from the restaurants (which I need after those wonderful meals)

Other than stateroom decks... I love deck 4... SHOPPING!!! :hyper:

Honestly though, just being anywhere on DCL is amazing to me:)

This thread is interesting. I was convinced the other day after reading about how great the "secret verandahs" are on deck 7, that it was the one we would choose for our first cruise next April. We'll be in cat 11, two rooms (boys, ages 16, 13 and 12). But now it sounds like deck 5 is better for our kids. Does this deck have cat 11 rooms? It doesn't matter if the rooms are seperate (but hopefully next to us) and not connecting. We'll be booking in May of this year through DVC. So what do you think? Deck 7 or 5 for us?

Jillpie,
Yes, there are cat. 11's on deck 5. We are cruising in January and booked a cat. 8 with a cat. 11 right across the hall. We have three kids, and had originally booked a cat.4 but after feedback from these boards, made the change. I am excited to be on deck 5, there are not a lot of cabins and I saved $1,000!!!!!!!
Whenever you go and whichever deck you stay on, Im sure you will have a blast!!

Deck 6 miship is our preference. Close to the elevators/kids clubs and nidway between all of the other action.

Deck five is central to everything, quiet and is on the same level as the kids clubs and the movie theater. Would love to know if deck 6 is comparable since we are booked for 6566 and are wondering if we should request to move back to deck 5.

For living on deck 5 is great especially if you have kids in the clubs. Its a few flights up to the pools and one or two flights down to the restaurants and nightclubs.

We like staying on deck 2, cat 9. Nice big porthole close to the water. The advantages are its close to the exit in ports and one flight up the the clubs and restaurants and the best:faint: deal is that you have to climb 7 flights of stairs to get to the pools. It's a great aerobic workout to burn off some calories so you can have more nummy desserts:tongue:

Kelli, thanks for the feedback! Have you ever stayed in an inside stateroom with no windows? I really don't have a clue what everything looks like yet. If we decide on deck 5, where is the club that my 16 yr. old would go to? And how do you stay in touch with your kids all day?

Jillpie - The teen club is actually the very top deck of the ship so Deck 7 would be closer than Deck 5. The clubs on Deck 5 are for kids ages 3-12.

We stayed in an inside cabin on our first cruise and it was nice. As you enter there is the closet on one side and the bathroom on the other. The next section has a sofa on one side and the drawers/storage area and TV on the other. At the back of the cabin is the bed, which can be separated from the couch area with a curtain.

I would do an inside cabin every time but DH likes having the natural light of a window so we now go with a porthole room. If you want to see a diagram of the inside cabins go to www.disneycruise.com Under the Rates, Dates and Mores section you'll find deck plans and cabin layouts.
