Definitely! I highly recommend it. It's very inspiring and, if you're anything like me :goodvibes , will have you in tears more than once :guilty:... but if I remember correctly, more often than not, it's the good kind of tears :) .

The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald Read it in school and decided to keep it

The Wessex Papers - Daniel Parker Long and kind of complicated, but I still liked it. Its about a conspiracy at a boarding school in CT *cough*Kristy*cough*

I think I have read all the boxcar series!

The list could go on forever!!!! But as I attempt to keep the list at a somewhat respectable length, I will only list the ones I can think of at the top of my head right now lol

The Catcher In The Rye!!!! (omg I love this book too much rofl)
The Lord of The Flies
The Shinning
Harry Potter series
The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
Tuesdays With Morrie
Flowers For Algernon
The Awakening

Some authors and poets I enjoy reading are:

Stephen King
Jane Austin
J.D. Salinger
Edgar Allan Poe
Henry David Thoreau
Walt Whitman
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Patricia Cornwell
William Shakespeare (some of my favorite pieces of literature are written by him lol)
Kate Chopin

My overall favorite thing I ever read (even though it is not a book) is Hamlet! lol right next to MacBeth (I have to read MacBeth over again as it has been years since I did lol)

I did not count books we read in class considering the list would go on forever lol, those are just a few things I have read on my own time ;)

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer :lovestruc

The Chronicles of Narnia

The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

The Harry Potter Series

I looove the Wrinkle in Time books! And Pride and Prejudice is on my "to read" list. I watched the older movies (the 6-tape A&E set) and really loved it. 'Read The Great Gatsby in high school and didn't care for it.
Here's the top ones that come to my mind:
-Harry Potter 4
-A Wrinkle in Time
-The High King (last of the Prydain Chronicles)
-Uncle Tom's Cabin...simply excellent
-The Hiding Place...the best nonfiction book I've ever read. The author, Corrie ten Boom, tells about her experience during the Nazi-era...she was part of a Christian family who helped hide Jews and ended up in a concentration camp herself.
-Anne of Green Gables and Anne of the Island

Ahhh Danielle! I loved the P&P (A&E version) so much that I bought it at Costco a few weeks ago (and I've already watched it more than a few times... :teeth: )

I have also read The Hiding Place. It was a really good book, but also very sad. I highly recommend it.

I like the Anne of Green Gables series too...I haven't read them in a while. Maybe that will be my next book!

I almost put down Number the Starts on my favorites list...it is really good! Lois Lowry is a really good author.
Boxcar Children was a really fun series. :goodvibes

Claire, that's cool that you liked the A&E version, too :teeth: Sounds like we have similar tastes :thumbsup2

A couple of people have mentioned Narnia. I got the whole set for Christmas (combined in a thick paperback) and have really enjoyed it so far. I am currently on Prince Caspian. I don't know why they didn't do The Magician's Nephew for a movie; I thought the book was great. Maybe they will later. After all, I believe the author did write it a little later on--not right off; plus they probably thought they'd have the most success w/ The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, since it's the most well-known. Just my musings here. :goodvibes

Well there are these books writen in IM chat and I like those they are "TTFN" and "TTYL"

A series of Unfortunate events

and I like "Number The Stars"
