What's your experience with Family Magic Tour cancellations?

Well, boo, I knew I was calling a bit late, but I just now realized the Family Magic tour would fit into my daughter's b-day itinerary in August. BUT, when I called, the tour was booked solid on her actual b-day (though I could get it the day before, but I didn't want to crimp everyone's schedule like that on more than one day). Do people cancel fairly regularly? Will it be sensible to call back regularly until then to see if someone has cancelled? I see it has a 48 hour cancellation policy, so might we have better luck closer to that time? I'd really love to have her do it - she'll be 7 that day and the perfect age to enjoy it.

On a related note, we have a CRT ADR that day at 8:20 a.m. The tour (if we were to even get it) starts at 10:00. Would we make it or is that cutting things too close? She also has the WTP at 1:30, so I wonder if the 2-hour FMT would be cutting that too close as well, since we have to take the boat over to GF from MK to get there by 1:15 or so. LOL Yes, she is goin' commando on her b-day! :cheer2: That's her style, though, so I wouldn't be too worried about it, as long as I thought it was reasonable to fit everything in as far as actually making it to and from events. TIA for any comments.

I'll answer your second question first:
I do not think that you will have enough time to get fromCRT over to the meeting place for the start of the tour. the tour will meet just beside City Hall: usually you are requested to show up 15minutes early to take care of signing in/instructions and restrictions.

I would keep calling, call everyday (use the 1-800-828-0228): I have been on many a tour that was completely booked, but on the day the tour was to go , many people did not show up or had canceled. There always seems to be space once the tour does start.

Have you tried for another day?

Hey, thanks for the response, cdntourguide. Wow, I guess CRT breakfast takes awhile to accomplish then, huh? I didn't expect to be there more than about an hour from 8:20 if I checked in 15-20 minutes before that, but I guess I'm glad they take their time (I expected them to sort of rush us through so they could get to the later ADRs!). I was thinking maybe while my DD and I are eating, I'd have my DH (who isn't doing CRT with us) go see if there were any FMT cancellations or no-shows and if so, and we did manage to make it back up Main Street in time, we could do it anyhow. I guess we'll have to see how it goes.

Just a warning - When we visited CRT we checked in early but still had to wait 45 minutes after our time for a table.

Doh! Even that early in the morning!?

Last year we were there before park opening (i think crt was at 8am) and we did not have to wait hardley at all, however in years past when we had say a 8:45 to 9:00 adr we had to wait nearly 45 minutes.

I just booked the fmt for june 9th,i did not know when it was going to fit into the grand scheme of things until recently. Then i find out it is booked,so i just kept calling back every am and to my surprise my date became open. so dont give up, i would keep calling.Persistance sometimes is the key. :rainbow:
