What's Your Dream Holiday Itinerary?

Looking at the new releases, there are interesting offerings that are unavailable to us due to school scheduling conflicts. I'm a teacher & my son is in 8th grade at a challenging private school, so there's no way to take a week off during the school year.

Anyone else in my boat & wish DCL offered more special itineraries during school holidays?

Here's my wish list:

• Hawaii over Christmas break
• Southern Caribbean over Christmas break
• Transatlantic cruise in early June
• New England & Canadian coast cruise over Thanksgiving week (to see the fall foliage)
• Panama Canal cruise over spring break

Any other suggestions?

Fall foliage is generally long gone by Thanksgiving. Unless you mean Canadian Thanksgiving (here in the states The Day The Indigenous People Found Columbus Wandering On Their Shores).

I agree with Hawaii over Christmas break as our college age son could join us.

@Dug720 is correct about (US) Thanksgiving in Canada - foliage should be long gone by then. Heck, we live far south of there in PA and have often had a couple of good snows by Thanksgiving (often by Halloween). We are heading to Canada / New England this weekend for two weeks and are quite hopeful to get some color, though.

If we just go with pie in the sky itineraries - the two that I really want to try both have to do with cruising around a cape. I'd love to cruise Norway up to the Northern Cape. I'd also love to sail the Southern Cape - Chili, Argentina, etc. Northern would need to be in summer and Southern in probably Jan or Feb. I know the Southern doesn't work into school breaks, but it's something we'd still love to do.

I just want the Fantasy to stop in San Juan during their Eastern Caribbean itinerary. Is that too much to ask? Flying to San Juan is prohibitive from CA and we really want to take our kids to see where their families are from.

It should be - yes. Though it does seem that prime color season is later and later now. It's almost completely green here - we live just east of Pittsburgh. Normally we'd be seeing a lot of great color by now, and the second week of October could usually be counted on for the best color. One of our maple trees has a few red leaves, but that's about it.

Although the irony in all that is it is the decreasing light that actually triggers the turning process to start...and that is pretty constant. (Ditto in the Spring, it's the increasing light.)

I know! It's kind of weird, but the last couple of years (at least where we live), Fall has been really late - not sure why that is, but it's definitely a "thing".

I live outside Boston and it is looong gone by Thanksgiving. Usually the leaves are all brown or off the trees by Halloween. The further north you go the earlier the peak time is.

I live in CA and there are plenty of storms over the Pacific during December/January. I don't think I'd be willing to sail to Hawaii at that time of year. Plus it's really cold here. Vancouver would be much, much colder, as would those days at sea.

Dream itineraries (otherwise known as itineraries I see other cruise lines sailing as I contemplate how long I'm willing to wait for DCL to step up their game...)

-- Venice, Adriatic (Croatia, etc.), and Greek Isles
-- Thailand or Bali down to Australia

Depends where in Canada but SW Ontario it’s been green still. Just starting to get some Fall colour. Heck, half the time it’s green in December- the grass anyway.
It will be high 70s for the foreseeable future here, but elsewhere in Canada it’s been colder Fall like by now. Same with North east USA. Mind you we were in Chicago couple of days ago and if was 90... just never know anymore.. anywhere it seems!
Mid October though is when you are most likely to find Fall foliage... in Quebec anyway.

Oh I also found a really cool cruise that started in Japan and sailed through Alaska down to Vancouver. That's a route I'd love DCL to sail.

Unfortunately, there are no more leaves on trees in November in Canada (East Coast). Also, I believe you would find it to be quite cold, especially on the ocean.

In my area, colors are starting to appear so I can imagine the foliage will be even nicer near Quebec.

Niagara , if I am not mistaken, has its own micro climate though. Which is why they have nice wineries... (At least that's what the guide told us when we visited last year).
