What's Your Disneyland Splurge?

Our splurge is staying concierge level at the Grand Californian! We don't do fancy dinners or tours so our one splurge is staying onsite.

My splurge is the Grand Californian. I always advise my friends to avoid it like the plague. I would have happily stayed across the street for the rest of my days before I experienced the GCH. Now, I'm hooked!:worship:

Well we go so much that we don't really splurge every time. We try to splurge on our bday trips tho. In Jan. DBF and I splurged and ate at BB, in May we splurged and ate at WCT and the girls and I did BBB together, next month we will splurge on DD13s meals, in Dec we will splurge on something DD9 picks. Our little monthly trips we don't usually splurge on much other than Tigger Tails or Mickey Bars. :)

Spurge so far: going to Celebration Ranch this Sat. for the 3rd time since opening day! Since my bro & his gf have never been, my DM decided to eat there since we went to Goofy's for his b-day in Feb. And I can't get over their yummy cupcakes!!! I just wish they sold them in other parts of the parks. :lovestruc

Mine will be (hopefully) staying at the DHL or Grand Californian. My mother's paying for the trip but I'm planning to pay the extra cost to stay onsite.

1)Staying at the Grand Californian
2)Dinner at Napa Rose (with DS and DH)
3)Dinner at CLUB 33 (with DH - in room childcare for DS) :cloud9: :woohoo:

I have to agree that GCH is a splurge even on DVC points. We're headed there for the 4th of July weekend and have concierge ... cant wait!:cool1:

Now, if only I could get that special "33" hook up, we'd be set!;)

Now that's a splurge!:thumbsup2:cool1:

We're pretty excited! It's DH and DS's first trip to DL (DS-4 has already been to WDW 4 times though --- and yes, we do live in Colorado --- and yes, we are obsessed with Disney LOL)

We will be there for our 11th anniversary and I was so happy to have a contact for Club 33. We are going to truly enjoy ourselves. On the drive home we're going through Las Vegas and we have a Tower Suite @ The Mirage - that will be a fun splurge too. (and that is probably about 1/4 the cost of GC! LOL)

Disneyland Hotel upper view room I have come to realize is a necessary splurge! It just adds so much to the trip for us. I think I even took it for granted there for a while--but I would rather go once a year and stay on property, rather than a few times a year and off.

We just returned from four nights in concierge at GCH, and we had a great time! When we stay at GCH we try to always stay in concierge, because now we are spoiled. :)

When we stay in the villas, I will just have to bring the little bottles of Dasani and my own chocolate dipped strawberries!:)

Have a great time! :)

When you check in at the Grand, let them know it is your anniversary and they will give you anniversary button ( every cast member will congratulate you) and decorate your bed!

Thanks for the tip. I might have thought to ask for pins (after seeing someone wearing one... LOL) but I didn't know about decorating the bed. That sounds nice.

Our splurge is GCH. My friend and I try to make it once a year, when we first started it was an offsite hotel for as cheap as we can find, now it's GCH all the way - no matter the cost. DTD view.....

Add me to the "just going is a splurge" group.

We don't splurge much. It's just not in my budget. I almost always buy a new set of ears and I try to pick up a new ornament. We really try not to eat any different on vacation than we do normally though so I don't tend to splurge on food. The only thing we make sure to do is have a corn dog for lunch the first day. I never eat them any other time.

RE the 'just going is a splurge' concept ---

When I was planning our Feb/Mar WDW trip, every time I'd call the CM would ask "Are you celebrating anything?" (even though my DH's birthday was ALREADY notated on the record...) So I got tired of them asking and started to say "Yes. We're celebrating the fact that we can afford to go to WDW and stay at the Grand Floridian." :lmao: That usually shut them up. They didn't know what to say to that.

But, in all reality - regardless of where one stays, or eats, or what souvies they plan to buy - it IS true! Being able to go on a trip at all, especially in this economic environment, is a splurge.

(we cut back on what we do at home so we can afford to take nice trips)

We stayed for our 15th anniversary. Not only did they decorate the bed and give us buttons, we got balloons, an autographed picture of Mickey and two fastpasses to be used on any ride in either park (except TSM which had just opened). The room looked awesome with all the flowers and petals...they decorated the floor, the bed and the bathroom (sink and bathtub).
