Someone recently started a discussion on Disboards asking what people's splurges were at Walt Disney World. It was entertaining enough that I wanted to ask the same thing of Disneyland's fans.

I realize that Disneyland is a much smaller operation, but opportunites to treat yourself to something that you wouldn't normally spend for are there. What is your splurge?

My last trip to Disneyland was only for a few days, but we still bought ourselves a little bit. The main thing that I am so glad we treated ourselves to are the photographs taken by Disneyland's photographers.

Our latest splurge - Fantasmic Dessert Seating for Fantasmic! for DH's 50th b-day trip in July. Neither one of us has ever seen F! and are really excited to see it. We haven't even attempted it for our family trips since we have a couple of little DS's with VERY vivid imaginations - and I like to sleep on vacation - not wake up to crying children in the middle of the night because they had a nightmare!! :scared:

My splurge is a mega one... I'm staying concierge at DLH from July 3-6. I can't wait!

We do a different splurge each trip. Our first trip we did Fantasmic sitting or last trip we did an extra character meal and this time around, not sure... We are going in October... Hmmm... Maybe Blue Bayou.

I also try to plan one or two for each trip, and can usually afford it because I choose to stay off-site at the HoJo using the ent. rate:

Club 33
VIP Tour
Segway Tour
Discover the Magic Tour
Character Breakfasts (these are a splurge for my family of 5)

Still havent done:

Napa Rose dinner
F! Reserved Seating (probably won't do it unless they return it to the balcony, where it is truly special)

Wow, mine sounds so teeny next to the other splurges, :rotfl: but to me it IS a splurge, I usually buy myself a snow globe! :thumbsup2 And I try to bring each of the grandkids something too!

Last year, I had to buy the Mickey Mouse watch with the Holiday bands, the duffle bag with "55" on it (maybe I might buy the rolling duffle). This July, I don't know. I'm kind of bummed because I'm losing my contract job in September, so I have to find my retail therapy at DL. My DH & I are spending our 7th wedding anniversary so we have reservations at Blue Bayou!.:surfweb:

Blue Bayou is my splurge. It's a bit selfish because my kids are little and I don't think they like it as much as me, but tough!

We may do a character meal too depending on how much work I get this summer.

oh man, my whole last trip was a splurge LOL!!

I would say good food at BB and at Ariels'
yummy!!

and since we last went during the holidays, I bought out an entire tree of ornaments!

OOOH but it was soooo worth it!!!

This last trip we actually had a few "splurges" - the whole family did Blue Bayou, the "girls" did Ariel's Grotto (and we bought the picture package there), and we each got some very nice souvenirs.
However, we don't get to go but every two to three years, and we save, save, save ahead of time, so think we deserve to be spoiled just a bit.....;) And like DangerMouse we stayed at Hojos to offset the expense just a touch....

Definitely food in general, I like to eat well when on vacation and with some of the restaurants there DLR is no exception.

I also spent close to 200 dollars on pins last time I was there, that is one collection that comes with and addictive side for sure!

My splurge for my first trip was a double scoop chocolate chip and chocolate ice-cream from Burr-bank at DCA. It was huge and delicious!

I'm going to say my Tigger Tale because there is no where else on earth I would spend $4 bucks on 4 marshmellows. :rotfl2:

Really our slurge is going. The gas and hotel. I have been four times since last August with another trip planned for Aug 2nd and although we have not done character meals or tours or expensive hotels that has enabled us to be able to go more often. Sometimes I want to do that character meal but it would cost as much for that as it does to drive from Utah so we've skipped out on them.
