Whats your current view of Disney/DVC?

It was....but I think the point is that DVC gets different incentives throughout the year over an AP.

The AP increase in dining last June was nice for those who were visiting, if you were not, then they were of no benefit. However, there have been times when it said it was just AP but DVC got it as well....wasn't there last June so can't confirm if they would have allowed or not.

I think the point is that DVC and AP each get different things but overall, I would not say that AP holders have an ongoing benefit over DVC owners who don't have the AP as well.....

That 20% off QS meal actually worked out better for us because we don't always do TS, but definitely do QS....

I never travel in June and rarely travel in a large group so in a different year, it would not have benefited me at all. But over the course of a ten-day trip with others who insisted on doing TS nightly, it was a savings of several hundred dollars.

I was just responding to the specific question “What perks do pass holders get that DVC does not?” and I was not aware of a time when DVC received 20% TS…but if they do, then I stand corrected.

But I absolutely see the value in both

The room size is one of the big draws for DVC for me. I did plenty of the cramming-8-dudes-into-a-regular-room-at-a-Motel-6 thing in college. I'm way too old for that now. At this point, I would rather spend the extra points for a big room.

The DVC bonus was for quick service. But again, are we really arguing that a 6-week 20% TS discount (up from the normal 10%) outweighs all of the DVC perks? Passholders don't have multiple year-round private lounges, or free after hours events, or ice cream handouts, or private character meets, or...

That said, some do not use the lounge, or do character meets etc…
But they do eat everyday.

It has happened before because we were there when it was AP and DVC…think it was a December trip.

DVC delivers on our expectations, which is a pre-paid resort room for the next 35 years (BLT). They do seem to care what their members think and the extras are nice, but not expected. As for Disney, it is a mixed bag. The parks and overall experiences are still unmatched. The upcharge for everything is tiresome. That said, we like most others on this board, continue to give them the stamp of approval by continuing to come every year.

Just like the above post DVC has fully met our expectations and are very happy with anything DVC related… we bought our contract with cash and never had a payment except for our yearly dues.. 12 nights next summer with 11 of them being at Riviera for the cost of our dues.. I’ll take that anytime
The extras / discounts are great and we use them whenever we can but if they took them all away I wouldn’t loose sleep over it

DVC works great for Disney trips or staying and using as a base for Daytona race weekends

As for Disney and all the extra charges.. no one is making you buy LL or any version of whatever it’s called now.. ever since they got rid to the the free fast passes we have never bought LL .. premier pass etc.. we utilize early entry or extra magic hours.. and knowing we will be back in the following year or two if we don’t get to do something.. oh well maybe next time

We had a good run with it while kids were grade school middle school and early high school. I mostly rent out points now... don't stay in DVC as much...been taking camper to Fort Wilderness (and even doing this and going to Disney is much less frequent...not even every year or sometimes a few years) so dog can be with us easily. I rent and use cash for dues and then toward FW if we do that. I don't think I'll sell as I have made up the initial investment of the 220 Saratoga points being purchased as resale at $73 and being that we under the "grandfathered" umbrella for the perks that still has. May never use it as much, but doesn't create a burden and it paid for itself years ago.

We have been members since 1997. Our kids were in the sweet spot and we went at least 1 time a year. Grandkids are now the focus and we are getting more use from our points.

The main thing I hate is all the DVC building going on. I wish they plowed some of that capital into the current resorts. Things are a little shabby around the edges and some of the refurbs look like Marriott with Ikea furniture. Old vibe is just lost.

I also like the old way of doing reservations. Reservations were based on checkout date and not checkin date. For instance If I wanted a stay form 12/1 until 12/15. I would call MS on 12/1 and make a 1 night reservation. Then call every day for 14 days and extend it by 1 day. Kinda walking in reverse. Never had an issue. Current system almost begs you to walk a reservation. This makes snagging a reservation you want much more difficult.

Sorcerer's pass is a nice addition. Wish they had something similar at DLR. Or at least bring back discounted Length of Stay.

All in all we are very happy with DVC and proud to be members.
