What's Your Anthem?

Hey everyone - :hippie:

Just found this forum. As I'm in the process of getting in shape for an upcoming cruise.

My favorite warm up song is by Jordin Sparks "This is my Now" from American Idol - after listening to that I can't help but be motivated...it sings to my heart

Am I the only one who doesn't use an iPod while I'm doing training runs?

On rare occasion, if I'm doing a night-time long run, I'll listen to a podcast (or several), but even that is unusual for me.

Anyone else out there who doesn't listen to music?

I don't anymore. I used to (hence my answer above), but I'll also listen to running music in the car on my way to a race or a run.

Oh yeah - forgot the soundtrack to "Spirit of the Marathon" - especially track 11 ("The Start").

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Jefferson Starship. (OK, I know I'm showing my age, but it's been played more than anything else on my ipod....and I knew them when they were just Jefferson Airplane!)

I don't run with an ipod either, but there are some songs that just motivate me. I posted this question after driving home yesterday, a beautiful warm summer afternoon, with the top down on the car when Right Now came on. Now I like to "rock out" as my DH says, but that song I absolutely blare and sing out loud really loud. Its my song.

The song from Hercules is a good one too, and I have always liked Make a Man out of You from Mulan.

Keep em coming friends.:cool1:

I don't listen to music unless I'm doing a double digit type long run. Then, only about half of the time. When I do, my favorite song is "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. I know it's morbid sounding but the beat is awesome plus; I know I'm going to die one day, but not today and not on this run. It fires me up when it comes in the shuffle.

Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man

I'm weird - I run to classical music. After 20 years of figure skating, that's workout music to me!

SWEET!!!! On long runs I'll sometimes run to Copland's Appalachian Spring or Dvorak's New World Symphony. What else have you got to do when training for a marathon?!? I still like my Journey, Metallica, and Aerosmith, though, along with some Pat Metheney and Michael Buble

Great question! "Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas always gets me going.

I love running to this song...but my husband always laughs at me b/c I cannot stop myself from busting out a few dance moves mid run!:rotfl2: Actually I do that all the time...to any music...especially when I'm on the treadmill...I have to spice things up or I feel like a hamster on a wheel! My husband keeps telling me "HANG ON when you do that, you're going to fall!"

not me! I'm supergirl!!!

:lmao:
