What's wrong with the BCV?

I've read many off hand remarks on these forums about people not being satisfied with the BCV.

Also, I just finished a trip report and at the end I put that I was going to try to get BCV 7 months out from my next trip. Well, one person sent me a PM saying they would trade me points for SSR because they dispised the BCV.

The place looks beautiful to me and is so close to our favorite park; Epcot.

Really, tell me what's wrong with the place?

Thanks!
MDF

Our home is OKW and that is our #1 choice for a 1 or 2 bedroom, but when my husband and I are alone, a studio at BCV is our #1 choice. I have stayed everywhere but SS, and next to our OKW home we like BCV best. I like the ease of parking, the closeness to Epcot, and the decor much more than BWV. It is relaxing and an easy walk around the lake to the boardwalk. I have never had a bad experience there!

BCV is terrible...stinky....dirty....yucky room views....run down...snotty....I could go on and on..... ;)

....but, I'd be lying!! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with BCV!! It has the highest resale $$$ of any DVC resort, and is usually the first resort to fill. It's stunning....beautiful....and amazing!!!

:ssst:

But please....spread the word that it is stinky....it'll leave more space for you and me!!!!

Beca is 100% right. Stay away (leaves more room for us). Don't recommend it (ditto).

We were there for 10 days in September and loved it. We had a dedicated 2BR with an Epcot view and it was just superb. No issues whatsoever.

So, no one go there when we are going back in August.

OK, well, it looks great to me also. I was wondering about that PM I received is all. Thanks Berry

I've had some bad experiences there and just got back from a trip there this past weekend. We stay in a studio there every fall so we can walk to EPCOT for F&W. Supposedly BCV gets the most "wear and tear" with the highest percentage of occupancy so it has more problems related to it is what I was told here when I posted about it. I have to question it though with THE highest resale value on property and no Standard view rooms like the BWV that seem to cause so much hoopla online here. The worst thing I could say about my last trip is that I've yet to find a mattress in any room at BCV that was worth a crap. I've been in many studios and 2BRs and every mattress sucked royally. Last year when we stayed there we had several problems throught our 4 day stay and so did friends of ours that checked in a day after we did. Everything from check in issues, room issues, etc. It doesn't feel like "home" to me the way OKW does but it serves a great purpose. We usually stay wherever based on the "mission" of our tripand we use BCV when we go for F&W primarily. We did a Sun-Thursday trip in a 2BR before with the kids to go to Stormalong Bay but have been going to OKW and for less pts stay an extra day. We've discussed an add on with the recent incentive so that we ca ndo another BCV trip with the kids every year so with that in mind it hasn't fallen that far from grace in my head.....

Maybe if you searched here for "BCV problems" or similar keywords you would find some of the issues that people have had in the past.

We stayed at BCV (our home resort) for the first time last month - 12 nights.

We had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. It was really clean, everything was in good working order and the Cast Members couldn't have been more helpful.

The proximity to Epcot, a 3 min walk, was fantastic and we must've loved it - we've booked 11 night again next September.

It is a great resort. No worries. I think some pepole fall in love with one resort, then pick another to pieces. I stayed last summer and had a great stay! :sunny: Give it a try!

We love BCV and even with a very close eye found no problems during our last stay this September. Keep in mind that the average is someone who has a problem tells 12 people, the rest of us enjoy our stays.

To recap: Stayed 3 times in the last two years, never a problem always a great stay.

We didn't see anything wrong with BCV. We really enjoyed our week-long stay there in a 2BR in May '04.

We've had 2 shortish stays at BCV and we loved them. Our first studio room had a view of the BC and I enjoyed watching the activity of people walking to and fro. The second view would have been termed Epcot View and it wasn't so great because of the tall trees and the view of the Soarin building, and the road noise, however you could see Illuminations from the balcony.

We have another BCV stay, again in May, this time with guests, we have 2 studios. I have always been able to sleep there. The decor is restive and makes me homesick for our Cape May NJ home.

A very special reason why we liked the BCV's is the gardenias that bloom and you have to pass them as you walk to the lobby. Yes, other DVC's have them, but here you always pass them (we stay in the spring) and they are wonderful. The magnolias here are also especially lovely.

Our check in people have been courteous. They remind me that check in is at 4, I'm sure they have to say it, there must be a check list somewhere. (People at Hallmark stores seem to always come by and ask if I've found everything, must be a checklist there, too.) I've chatted with them when there hasn't been a long line, ours seemed pleased as punch when I had announced that it was my first stay there. I'm on vacation, the CM's are working and I have never had one ruin or have a negative effect on my vacation.

I agree that if people look at resale value, BCV is the most desired, and although it isn't my favorite, I like it very very much.

It is really personal preference. I will never stay at BCV again. I prefer BWV. The rooms SEEM smaller (at least to me) at BCV. And I do not like the fact that they have a lot of rooms facing the service road. That really bothered me. It did not feel like Disney to me being by the service road. Even the standard views at BWV are better than those room at premium point prices. The only plus is that the self parking is very close to a lot of the rooms.

Again just MY opinion.

Keep up the good work, Beca!

By the way, they built a 5-story high metal fence behind BCV to keep out the noise from the road, so you can't see Epcot anymore. :rolleyes1

Really? We had a decent view of Illuminations one night from our Balcony on the 4th floor. Saw SSE too. It's not the same view since Soarin' was built, but we didn't see a fence.

I think it was a joke.

both the BCV and vWL - were add on to current WDW resorts.

the area they are in is not the best.

that say - they are both GREAT resorts.

some of the complaints have been about the worn appearance of the tables and chairs.

I remember from the open house that it was surposed to look that way. I guess their guides failed to tell them that was the problem.

they expected it too look brand new.

Grandmother cottage is generally not new. It was based on that.

You guys are so funny!! I agree, keep up the bad reviews so there will be more rooms us!! We check in to BCV this Saturday and cannot wait. I just love looking at that fence from my 5th floor room! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:
