What's wrong with my wireless mouse?

Batteries are good - but every now and then the pointer "disappears" and I'm getting a message that my lap top doesn't recognize something that is plugged into the USB port.. So - I unplug the mouse stick, plug it back in, and it works again for awhile..

Is it the mouse, the port, or the stick?

Mine does that every time I have something in the way of the sensor. But I use the wireless mouse on my desktop at work, so it might be different.

Do ports ever go bad? I've had this lap top for about 4 and a half years now..

Yes, they can fail. Do you have a shop nearby to take it to and they can check for you?

Unfortunately, no.. If worse comes to worse, I can still use the finger pad - but I really can't stand that thing - LOL..

I had a laptop where one port failed, but I had 2 others to choose from. 1 in the back and one on the side.

It is also possible that the connection could be bad. I've had cables fail before as well.

Just tried another port.. We'll see what happens..
