I had posted a week or so ago about the noise my car was making when I turned left. (I would have posted an update to the old thread, but I don't know how, so here we are.) DH took the car to the garage. I called the garage at the appt time to explain what was going on and asked them to check the things mentioned here. They could not find anything wrong. DH said he doesn't hear a noise. I guess the mechanic drove it and didn't hear anything. It only happens when accelerating between 20 and 40 mph and turning left, not a sharp turn. Anyway, I guess the good news is there is nothing wrong that they found. This is also the bad news. I think it is still doing it. Maybe not as loud. I don't know anymore. I haven't driven in much since.

I just thought I would let those of you who replied know the outcome. I appreciate your responses. I guess I will drive it until the wheel falls off. Literally. I"m thinking of taking it to the dealer. They ALWAYS find SOMETHING wrong. That is why I don't always trust them. thanks again.

I had a similar noise from my vehicle about two years ago...in my situation, the mechanic discovered problems with the sway bar and tie rods in the front. These parts hold the whole tire assembly to the car.

Thanks for posting an update. Sorry that we don't have a warm and fuzzy conclusion. BTW our main car has 225k and is on it's second motor and second transmission. The present motor is at 145k and the trans has about 40k on it. It also has had both CV axles replaced during the life of the car. It made a trip to FL and a a trip to VA in just the last 3 weeks!

We had the same thing happen to our Odyssey, it was ball bearing joint.

my husband is an ase master technician. He would say "turn up the radio" lol

danygirl - I think I will take your husband's advice. At this point, it seems like the best choice.

I think I am going to go back to the garage, when I have time, and take one of the mechanics for a little drive so he can hear it. Then, he can tell me to forget about it or he can fix it. Fortunately, they have not charged me for the 2 times they have already looked at it.

I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the support.

Aha!!! So, I took my car to the dealer and explained exactly what was going on. Turns out it was the outer part of the left front cv joint. The mechanic said it took him a while to make the noise happen during a test drive but he finally did and was able to locate the problem. So, I called the garage that put the cv joints on originally and they said they will replace it. The dealer's mechanic said it might have just been a bad part. I plan to take the dealership's bill to the original garage, since they have looked at it twice and couldn't find anything wrong. Not sure how they will handle that but I think it is fair. Their part is bad and they had 2 chances to find the problem and didn't. At least I don't have to pay the dealer $700.00(!!!!) to fix it. That was their quote.

So, I wasn't imagining this noise after all. It is really nice to know it is going to be fixed now.
