What's with the May vacancies? Rather, lack thereof!

What the heck is up with moderate resort vacancies? Looking at a last-minute (relatively speaking) 5-day trip during the second week of May, and there's not a room to be found in any moderate resort aside from a lone Pirate room at CBR.

When I took a quick look Thursday evening, there was a good assortment of rooms available at every moderate. Tonight, nada! Even checked POP and AoA, no regular rooms there either.

I've noticed that the Disney site has been sporadic the last week or so about how it lists resorts when you query dates. Sometimes it tells you up front that there's no availability. Sometimes it tells you the average standard rack rate and doesn't exclude availability until you click through. Sometimes it cites the current room discount promo from the get-go.

Anyone know if there's something going on with Disney's online booking? It sure seems like it! Beginning to think that I'm better off calling Disney than browsing on the web.

*sigh* // end frustrated rant

We are going second week (or third? - beginning 5/16) in May and a lot of moderates are booked b/c of the CBR deal that was happening. When you booked before 3/20 you will receive a $75 per room/per night gift card. This might have caused a lot of spontaneous bookings. (but I hope not....or it might be way too crowded)

That's around the time the cheerleaders are there. So most of the All Stars and Coronado Springs get booked up with that. Which means less rooms for other people. So those people are booking at other hotels. Plus a lot of rooms at CBR are closed for renovations and things too I think.

We are going during this time and booked our room a little less than a year ago once Disney opened up 2017.

Wishes also ends on the 11th. So many people trying to see it one last time.

Check again after Fall Discounts are announced, you'll see lots of rooms open up as people cancel when they see what's not getting discounted.

Last Friday, AP and DVC members were invited to a special preview event for the new Avatar world that is opening May 27 at Animal Kingdom. The preview events run for a few days in mid-May. A large number of AP holders booked last minute trips specifically after this event was announced in order to take advantage.

End of school year senior trips, colleges on trimesters have a break also.
