I missed the last thread, at least the opportunity to comment. I always mis the big debates. Doggone it. Anyway, we saw the skywriter on our last trip. I am a Spiritual person, I believe in God, and I still don't think it's appropriate as it could offend people of other faiths. I am not of the mindset that my faith is the "only way" or the "right way." There are many paths to righteousnes.

That said, I think the skywriting is kind of neat - it's amazing how they do that. I took a pic of the smiley face. At first it kind of gave me the hibby jibbys. Couldn't understand why some nut was interrupting my magical vacation.

In the end, I didn't care - I kept on having fun. Shoot...someone could write "I worship cats" in the sky over Disney and I'd still have a good time.

I see that everyone went a little overboard on that other thread after a while...darned shame that happened.

I must say, I think it's awesome that this person is doing what he is doing. I'm Jewish, but I believe that he's not hurting anyone by putting positive messages in the sky (including the religious/Jesus themed ones).

However, I'm simply intrigued to know who he is and if he's doing it on his own initiative or if he's being hired by someone to do this...would love to know the story behind this story.

It sounds like something that belongs in a Florida version of our "Weird NJ" Magazine...

It's pretty offensive.

It's sad that someone thinks their belief is worth intruding on the vacations of thousands of people.

Something tells me if it said "Praise Allah" people would riot, and they'd end up having a special hearing at the state house within an hour to pass some emergency law against skywriting, and it would never happen again.

When we were at Epcot in June we had the same Jesus message from a skywriter. You're right...I also thought that WDW was a no fly zone.

I spoke about this in another post, so pardon my repetitiveness. First, the only part of WDW that is a no fly zone is the Magic Kingdom. Second, if you look at the angle of the sky writing you will soon discover that it is well to the South of even Epcot. It really, I'm sure, isn't directly over WDW at all. Just appears to be because of the trajectory.

As for it being offensive, simple solution, don't look at it, don't believe it and don't feel the need to be converted. Then it is nothing more than vapor in the sky. There's lots of thing there to see on ground level. No need to look up!

Being that I just saw the same thing here a day or so ago I'm begining to believe this is the same pilot. I bet he just makes his rounds all over the skies in the state of FL.

I don't mind it. I beleive in what I want. I just don't like being "persuaded" or having the "word spread" to me.

Disney should hire the guy to replace the jesuses, gods etc with Mickey and Disney- then I don't think any of us would complain!

So I should only look down at the ground while I'm at WDW? I'm going to hope you were being sarcastic.

I'd find it offensive if I saw anything that pertained to the outside world being written in the sky, the frame for all the magical things at WDW, the skyline that the park was designed to enhanced.

I don't care if it's religious, political, or otherwise. Unless it's a Mickey Mouse head I find it offensive. Just as I'm sure many things that you see in the world happen around you as offensive. What are you offended by my offense?
