What's with the banks in VA?

Have many people actually had checks paid for the wrong amount or paid twice? I don't think I've ever had that happen to me. I don't think I've even heard of that.....but then again, I'm not much on balancing my checkbook....

Hopefully, not many. But it just took one time of it happening for me to forever check all my canceled checks. I'm not sure what kind of machines they use for encoding these days, but I used to operate an "Op Scan" machine. LOL! First the part of your bill you return with your payment came through. I guess that's where it reads the account number. Then the check came through and we keyed in the amount. I remember catching an error every once in a while. Especially at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. LOL!

Hopefully, it will work without a problem. If not, I'm sure I'll be at my bank getting a copy of a check. Hmmm...they WILL have copies, right? Ones to "prove" I paid someone? I'll have to see if my new bank has it available online...once I receive my info.

I haven't gotten checks back in at least 15 years. The bank we use now allows us to print a copy of the check online, front and back. If you go to the branch to ask for it, they will charge you. And it takes a few days. I had to have my paid rent checks for my recent mortgage fiasco. I needed them that day, boy was I glad that I could print them myself. They were very clear. The bank also prints a copy of the front of every check on the statement. I very rarely write checks, I use my debit card, or pay online. I have NEVER had a check go through more than once. Or had the wrong amount deducted. I did have a teller make a 100000 error on a deposit, but they caught it. , what fun that could have been! NO, I wqould not have spent it, no flames please.

Okay...tonight I stopped by Sprint to pay my cell phone bill...since it's next to Starbucks. Yum! It's the first time I've paid in an actual store of theirs. How strange! LOL! I put my check in the slot, then the screen said it automatically withdrew my payment from my account, gave me my check back and a receipt! I guess that's one way to make sure my payment is posted properly and get my canceled check!
