What's with all the personal financial ?'s

We have had how much is your mortgage payment and how much do you save. Am I the only one who finds those questions innapropriate?

Diane, I think that members certainly exercise their own discretion in answering such questions. Some people are quite open with their personal finances; others are not. I personally found the thread about retirement savings to be very interesting. I offered that we are only able to put aside 7% of our gross/month but was really impressed that many here are able to do much, much better ..............

Well, since I asked about the mortgage payment(in a poll) Ill reply to this thread. I was curious because of the retirement money thread. Seeing how much people seemed to be saving, I was curious how much they are paying monthly for their house. The reason we dont put much away for our retirement is because we have 1 income supporting 4 people and a very large mortgage payment. My poll's results have shown that I was correct in thinking we do have a larger than average monthly payment, so I dont feel so bad for not saving as much as others (whose mortgage payments are less than the amount of some people car payments ).
So, the poll served its purpose and answered my question. I posted it as a poll specifically so that if people didnt want people to know, they could just vote. And like any thread, if someone doesnt want to answer the question they dont need to.

Don't worry about it CamColt - we could have all answered without using our names and giving specific numbers. Anyone that answered more specifically, including myself, obviously doesn't mind the numbers being out there.

I found both posts (retirement savings/mortgage) to be quite interesting.

I think I'm pretty touchy about money being personal but I found nothing wrong with those threads. One is a poll and one is just talking percentages.
Frankly, I find the ones that ask, "What kind of underwear do you wear?" too much. I don't want to go to a DIS meet and meet someone who knows what kind of undies I wear!
