What's with all the exchanges?

There are at least three exchanges announced on the first page of the CB this morning. I don't get it! What is the deal with everyone wanting to do exchanges???

I agree, the impact of the exchanges, something that we looked forward to once a year (the DIS OE ) is now being overshadowed by the many that come down the pike.

I remember back when on the DIS, when the first ornament exchange was out.. I didn't participate, I had just joined... Now its exchanging everything.

For me it is just fun to do. I like opening the mail box and getting something other than bills and junk mail. It is a day brightener, kind of like when your a kid and you get a surprise that you have to open, or as an adult when you order something you want and it finally arrives!

I agree with you Diane. I have participated in several of the exchanges when they occured every month or two. It was fun to get a name and shop and send a package then wait to receive one. I got to "meet" some new people that way. Now there are so many that I don't even join in. Seems like too much of a good thing.

I've thought the same thing....so many exchanges...kind of took the fun out of them. I only participated in two and haven't since. Partially because I didn't receive my last exchange and partially because I just haven't had the time.

I don't see what the big concern is over how many exchanges are taking place. You are all free to pick and choose which ones interest you and what you'd like to participate in. If you choose not to participate in any, then that is okay too. If any of you visit the Recipe & Scrapbook board, you'd see that there are many exchanges taking place over there also. The beauty of many exchanges is that you get to pick which ones interest you. I, for one, think they are alot of fun. The more the merrier!

I like to do some of the exchanges, but I have to admit that there are a lot of them out there, but I guess that is everyone's business on whether they participate or not...

I also know that exchanges details get lost in the scuffle sometimes.....


I would love to see an Exchange Central thread (or an improtant)thread with a link to all the the current exchanges going on, the time, dates, contact person, etc.. or even a dare I say it, a separate Cheer Exchange Board...

I like the exchanges. It gives me a chance to meet new people, and get mail (I love getting mail). When there are a lot of exchanges, it gives people a chance to pick and choose. Although I would not like to exchange recipes, if that were the only exchange, I would feel left out. However, there are enough exchanges to please many different people, with many different interests. Only exchange when you when and what you want. JMHO .

Just like every other thread on this board, we all pick and choose what we want to read.....just ignore the exchange threads. Is that so hard to do?

Some of us really enjoy them.
I like doing them...but I don't do them all. I do read them all because I like reading what people receive and the interaction between everyone

Have to agree with Meriweather and tc...if someone doesn't want to participate in exchanges, they don't have to. Tey can just pass over the threads and don't pay attention to them.

I am involved in two exchanges right now. Those are the ones I chose to participate in.

I too like meeting new people through the exchanges.

I agree, there are a lot of exchanged going on. But as others have said you get to pick and chose which ones you want to participate in. If I participated in them all I would be broke between the exchange and the shipping. Right now I am signed up for three of the many out there, my favorite, the ornament exchange, the christmas card exchange and secret santa.
