hi everybody,

so i stayed in saratoga last april for school break. my parents & i ended up staying in the springs section of the resort (& spa haha). what i loved about our section (studio #4223) was that it was wicked close to everything! all we had to do was cross that street and BAM we were at the pool, artist's palette, everything. & the bus stop was right next to our building!

i also loved how the guy at the front desk was like "well all we have right now is a studio in the springs," like it was a bad thing! lol

so, one day i went traveling around the resort. it's huge. we know that lol. but i loved how each area of saratoga, though very similar, were all extremely different. congress park stood out to me the most. it just screamed downtown disney & "i am the best place to stay." idk why, but it did.

so im just wondering: if you've ever stayed at saratoga, what's your favorite area of the resort? why?

thanks everybody,

I prefer Grandstand. The 2 buildings near the Grandstand pool are as close to AP/turf club as the Springs. Plus its the first bus stop, (A fairly big deal, in Oct most buses were SRO by the time they got to Springs) has wonderful golf course views, and it has its own quiet pool with pool bar and kid splash area.
Congress Park has DTD views, and the setting and view from that quiet pool is one of the best at Disney. Much closer to DTD, but farther from the SSR amenities..
Carousel and Paddock are about to get a nice upgrade with a feature pool with slide, and CS dining..

I wouldn't recommend the Carousel. About the only advantage to staying there is that its an early bus stop - you can almost always get a seat on the bus.

Honestly, if I had to choose, I'd ask for one of the Grandstand buildings closest to the Springs - close proximity to the main facilities, easy access to 2 pools AND the first bus stop.

We had a 2 bedroom in congress park and it was by far the best view we've ever had at a wdw resort. Top floor with a perfect view of STD. Just gorgeous at night.

Honestly, most of the areas of SSR have some type of advantage or will soon. Obviously Springs is close to the Carriage House and relatively central in the resort. Grandstand (my favorite) is first stop for the bus and is also pretty close to Carriage House. As you mentioned, Congress Park screams DTD and I would love to stay there and its proximity to the markety place and possibly getting a DTD view!!

Paddocks had a big following, because it was a quite area, but still pretty close to everything and Carousel usually was rated the least favorite because it was in the boondocks and furtherst from everything and only people with their own cars liked it (because they could get in and out of the resort quickly). But, later this year with a new theme'd pool and QS dining coming to Paddocks, it will be very close to Carousel as well and both of these areas will become "preferred areas" and I don't see anyone being able to really complain about SSR...while it will be big and spread out, it will finally have the services/amenities to match its size.

We absolutely love SSR and have had many many stays there. We've stayed numerous time in the Paddock, Congress Park and Grandstand. Our most favorite area is Grandstand. My kids love the pools, the bus stop is the first dropoff and pickup, from any of the four buildings, it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the Carriage House and DTD boat dock and walking path to DTD.

We always request Grandstand for each of our trips.

When the pool is done, I think I'd like to try Paddock again. We'd also like to see how we like The Springs as the location seems pretty great.

We bought an add-on contract last year to be able to get at least a week in a Treehouse, as well. So someday in the coming years we're excited to try those units.

I've stayed Grandstand, Paddock (twice), Congress Park, Springs and Treehouse Villas.

My favorite is Paddock; least favorite is Springs.

We're definitely creatures of habit. The first time we stayed at SSR, we stayed in the Springs. We loved it  and have never stayed in any other section, because we loved it so much. We love the close proximity to the Carriage House (pool, dining, etc). But I also love the quick walk the other direction to the Paddock. In the mornings, if we were worried about crowded buses, we'd walk to the Paddock bus stop and get on there. Never an issue getting a seat. The Springs just seems to be in the middle of it all. Not a far walk to the DTD boat, and still not a bad walk over to DTD. Not to say I wouldn't love that view of DTD...but just seems inconvenient to the Carriage House, which we like being close to.

If anything, I guess this thread proves how there's something for everyone at SSR :rolleyes1

For our first trip home as SSR owners we stayed in congress park, dedicated 2bdrm top floor across from house of blues. Great view, 10 min walk to DDT which our two teen boys liked because of nightly disney quest fixes and junk food runs. Pool was fairly quiet too . We leave in 3 weeks for our first stay as new owners of OKW, 2bdrm in the HH area, should be pretty spacious for the four of us.

We loved the Grandstand! Being near the pool & main building & the first bus stop was wonderful!

Favorite: Congress Park
Least: Grandstand, parking close to the building was always difficult. Only two of the buildings are close to anything.

has anyone ever stayed in treehouse villa and if so can u tell me how it is with buses and walking distance to everything tha:smickey:nks

Bus service was good from the treehouses never had to wait long for a bus and the walking path to the grandstand bus stop is also not a bad walk if your staying in the treehouses near the path. They also have their own dock for boat service to DD.

I've never stayed anywhere other than Congress Park with a DTD view and have loved it every time. I have been tempted to try other areas but am always afraid I won't like it as much. I am planning on giving Paddock a try once it's completed. My first DVC stay was when the only rooms that were completed were in Congress Park and, while I loved all of those trips, I try to stay away from construction zones as much as possible.

Another vote for Congress Park. Of course we have only stayed there so I can not compare it to other sections.

We always have a car when staying at SSR so the distance to main building is not a problem.

CP has a really nice quiet pool, with great views of DTD. We usually use this pool over the main pool. Just wish they had a bar!

Ask for a DTD view, upper floor. Some of the best views in WDW.

Favorite Event at SSR - Check In
Least Favorite Event - Waiting for the ME

Favorite Place at SSR - Grandstand, next to pool
Least Favorite Place at SSR - Carousel

Favorite Time - Sitting in the Rockers at the lake across from DTD
Least Favorite Time- Waiting for the ME

Being there and enjoying all the families is certainly a wonderful time also!

I would say my favorite area at SSR is the Grandstand near the pool. Then next area would be Congress Park.

Jim.

Have stayed at SSR twice and both times was in Grandstand, the first time by chance, the second time by request. Love the pool, proximity to the main building and being the first bus stop.
