What's up with this

Hmmmmm...i understand it's a bummer when a site is paid for but not occupied because it prevents a camper from being able to stay at FW but for the people doing the bashing it's good to know that they have NEVER:
1. stayed in a non-pet loop with a pet
2. parked more than the allowed vehicles at a site
3. violated the "all quiet" hours after consuming copious amounts of kungaloosh
4. exited their site after the check-out deadline of 11am
......jmo;)

I had made a 1 night camping reservation for the 4th of July with the intention of just using it to get EMH on the 4th. I got slammed to the ground because we were really not going to camp for the night. Because the calender changed we canceled the reservation. So for fun I am reading the camping section and not only can you get a reservation for the 4th, it seems to be okay to book a site for 2 weeks when you only want it for a few nights! I was using 1 site for 1 night. I don't think what you are telling people to do is any different then what I did. I know you are canceling these extra nights, but before you do that, people can not get a site because you are booking 14 nights, when you really only want 3 days! If you are not on the DIS you do not know these things. So a lot of people will try to get a reservation and can't. At least when I booked my 1 night, I was using it for something. Disney makes people do things sometimes that makes no sense. At some point they will figure this out and not let you do this. I would do this if I had to to get the reservation I want. The difference here, is that I will admit what I am doing . Is this right or wrong? That depends on your opinion. I think people should just not judge other people so harshly. :confused3

As far as the booking 14 days and cancelling the days that you don't want. You say that no one knows this unless they are on the DIS, that's not true. I have had a reservation cast member tell me to make reservations for longer than I need in order to get the days that I need. I have done that and then called back immediately and cancelled out the days I don't need. I think the main difference is that the site is being used. I'm not bashing you, just not agreeing with your methods. I know you are not the only person doing this. And I have had my musical lights on at 11pm at Christmas. Guess what, security was at my door telling me that someone was complaining. Also, people get put in pet loops because the reservation cast member didn't ask if there were any pets and all of the pet loops were occupied. When the pet loop problem occured, I was lucky enough that there was a site in a pet loop. However, a cast member was going to put me in a non pet loop after I told them that we had a dog.

Nice try but this compares how?:rolleyes1

Here is the thread that was so "mean and vicious." Personally, after reading the entire thread. I found nothing vicious and mean. What I found was your typical "we stay in a hotel so we are better than Campers" and the Campers bringing them back down to reality speak and as usual...some of them did not like reality.

OK I don't like anyone being called names or hurt:sad1:. I admit I am a ding dong and did not know this happened and sure didn't know that you could put a longer vacation date in to get the dates you want. I am one of those people that walks around thinking everything is good in the world:goofy: We come down every Feb. for our Anniversary:hug: and I will tell you there have been several times I have had to take a partial stay at FW and then go off property the rest of the time. IT COSTS ALOT OF MONEY IN GAS AND I DON'T WANT TO STAY ANYWHERE ELSE:scared1:. To most people who don't know:tinker: FW is a very special place, I love Disney but there is alot of times we don't even go to the parks. It is very sad that this stuff happens:sad: I undersatnd the reason for picking the Fort, it isn't any cheaper than the value resorts but you can PUT MORE NAMES on the reservations with out shelling out more CASH! This is gonna effect the Fort patrons and no one else in the end, the rates keep going up (compare them to the value) and we get no free dining:headache:. By the time we pay the MH,TT,5'er pmt EVERY MONTH plus insurance EVERY MONTH plus the GAS and the site we could stay at the fricken GF but we don't want to stay at GF WE WANT TO STAY AT THE FORT:furious:!!!!!!!!!!!!! People just don't get it. Stop messing with the Fort.:thumbsup2

Don't sweat all of this... it's all small stuff. I've learned, on this board as with any, there are people who will insist on debating, arguing, making you feel unwelcome... most of the people are just helpful. If you can just weed out the others.. you will find this to be the best place for information.

While I have posted in this thread, I have not bashed, so your post is not directed toward me. I will, however, answer it. :)

1. No. Never brought any pets to the Fort. All were boarded in hometown with vet.

2. No. Brought an extra vehicle once, and it was parked in overflow.

3. No. We don't drink, and we're pretty quiet.

4. No. Always hit the road first thing. If we were there past 9:30am, it was late.

To the OP'er.... If you wish to book a site so you can take advantage of EMH for up to 10 people for one day, book away!! The level of site you are most likely booking is a partial hook up site and doesn't affect me what so ever.

Bottom line is, Disney could care less if you actually use the site or not. They have your $$$ either way. Personally, I don't care if you use the site or not. It's your $$$ and if that's the way you choose to part with it, that's your business. For the most part, EMH is not worth it IMO because they only have the "good" rides open for business and percentage wise, you're competing with the same volume of people to ride them as you do during the day.

I'm a Disney Stockholder, and as such, let the people book & pay away. It increases profits. It's actually very profitable to encourage such action because water, electricity, and other facilities are not being used - yet they are being paid for.

Again to the OP, if you choose to book a site in the future for EMH benefit, I suggest you keep it to yourself. There isn't a person in all of Disboard-land or Ft.Wilderness-land that knows why a site is sitting empty.;) (Unless of course, you post a sign on the site announcing that "This Site is Occupied But You Can't See Us Because We Are Taking Advantage of EMH, Only." :rotfl2:

If I were to book a site to get EMH perks, I'd darn sure use the site, maybe not for camping. I'd park there, leave a cooler with drinks and hot dogs and charcoal, swimming trunks and towels, etc.

Come mid afternoon I'd be at the Fort, eating lunch, swimming in the pool and chillin', right before heading back for the EMH. I'd enjoy the boat ride and the relatively easy exit when it was time to go.

I just wouldnt be sleeping there!

But, thats not likely to happen anytime soon, and I prefer more days on site when I hit FW!

Yoda....you do not bash so my post is not directed at you:thumbsup2 I choose not to bash either....and i am a rule follower also for the benefit of all who want to enjoy FW and all it has to offer:)
It is a shame to rent a site and waste it by not staying to enjoy...inevitably folks lose out: the people who are trying to reserve a site to camp can't get one, creates higher crowd levels for EMH intended for overnight resort guests, etc. :sad2:
BigK1....the comparisons were meant only to show that the actions of one negatively impact others (and don't throw stones in a glass house! lol):lmao:

Personally, I don't think it's fair to take someone's family vacation away, just to get a few extra hours in the parks.. It just doesn't seem right to me.. With that said, if someone pays for a site, it is his/her business what is done with the site.. IMO, Disney needs to change the booking process so that there is a minimum requirement of 3-4 sites booked, like many campgrounds currently do, to ensure that the site is actually being used.. But, like I said before, you paid for the site, so it's your business what you do with it.. Just my 2 cents.. :thumbsup2

I have been there a bunch of times and never done anything on your list. :sad2:

Extra hours means extra wait. Its best to plan around them usually. And the reason this cannot be done at other resorts is getting 8 people in with one resi. The truly desperate.

Been at the parks on the 4Th 10 yrs ago this yr for our honeymoon. Waaaay to many people and very hot. We have been during other peek times and this is the worst peek time to be in the parks. Do DTD or stay around the resorts for the day and swim. Enjoy the 4th without the huuuge crowds. I have voiced my opinion on throw away sites before and wont let my blood pres. be raised again. I do hope howerver that you have a MAGICAL time with your fam.

1. stayed in a non-pet loop with a pet

When we stayed in Oct we were in a non pet loop. Woke up with pets all around usin the 1400 loop.. Asked the front desk about this and were told that THE POLICY AT THE FORT IS THAT ALL LOOPS CAN BE USED AS PET LOOPS AT ANY TIME IF NEEDED. Didnt bother us just wondered why we had a choice on the ressies.

Someone wrote that they heard you could rent a camp site and not camp there and get the benefits of staying on site. Like EMH. I did that for the 4th of July. We have 7 people in our party, so for 63 dollars we all would get room keys for 24 hours. This would of allowed us to be in MK on the 4th for EMH. It was on this board. When I said I did that, they called me all kinds of names. It even made the podcast. I all so think if you pay for something it is up to you how you use it. What the complaint was about, was that I was taking away someones camping trip at the fort, because I booked a campsite that I was not really camping on. It does not matter now, because of the calendar change, EMH is no longer at MK on the 4th.. Until Disney catches on to some of these things, people are going to do what they have to, to get what they want. Just like they took away the Free Dinning for campers.

Just for the record, you were not slammed on THIS board; you were slammed on the Orlando/Attractions board. Maybe this post would be better taken up with them and not the campers who didn't slam you in the first place.

I don't think anyone would mind if you made a throw away ressie if you let one of us "borrow" your campsite to park our camper put up a a few chairs and fill up a cooler. :rolleyes1
