So we have always been magic band people. My husband and I had first generation custom ones.... my husband held on to his as long as the battery would last (since its non replaceable on the old ones). Then he skipped a few trips where he couldn't get the time away from work and my parents and I took the kids. So my magic band was replaced, but he is still in need of a new one. We are now 15 days out from our trip and I have been stalking the magicband ordering page for months and all of the options are super feminine! Other than a Droid Depot option (we are not a Star Wars family) and ones for resorts that we are not staying at - its SLIM PICKINGS! Even the plain colors are all either pink/purple or have glitter.

We are running low on days to order- any ideas/suggestions?

Nothing official has been said about it, but most of the things I've heard simply relate to the supply chain shortage and Disney not getting inventory. Unfortunately, I'm not sure there are many options other than constantly checking to see if the offerings have been updated or simply waiting until you're there and purchasing MBs at full price.

he is still in need of a new one.
Is there a reason your husband's old ones won't suffice? Even if the battery is dead on them, they will still work just fine for park admission, room charge and anywhere else that requires an actual touch. The only thing that won't work is the long-distance things like on-ride photos.

Really? I was told once the batteries were dead on the old style ones (no circle pendent), they were no longer useable at all.... how could it work for tickets or the door if its "dead"? That would be wonderful if it still could be used- he loves it.

The battery isn't used for touch points. The touch points provide the power, the MB is passive in these cases.
So yes, it will still work

Have him pick one out on-site, I felt there were more options onsite. I recall a lot of bands at the shop in Frontierland. A male member of our party found a Mandolorian MB at the big EP shop (that actually featured the Mandolorian and not Baby Yoda 😆)

I'm also frustrated. Taking my father-in-law and would love a simple solid color for him. It is a shame that we can't reassign one of the dozen sitting in a drawer at our house! I might end up dishing out retail price for a solid color.

Maybe ask for a Key To The World card for him unless he's fond of MBs. They're still free.

I like one as a backup in case I repeat dashing out of the room without putting on my MB. The time I did that would have been a lot less fun if I hadn't tucked the KTTW in my hip pocket just in case I did something that intelligent.

That's a good idea- I did that once as well. Got to the park and realized----> no magic band. Had to return to the hotel. Quite a bummer.

Just FYI- guest services or a ticketing window will give you a card at the park, so you don't have to go back to the hotel. Or, now, I guess you can just use your phone, so you wouldn't have to do that either :)

I have 2 first generation bands that I customized years ago, I wore both at different times this past week when they went with my park outfit. They worked for my resort door and all the touch points, including the handheld ones the CM’s use for extended hours events.

I've nothing to add to the good advice already given, but want to commiserate. They have Disney Mom, Disney Kid, and Disney Family. I would love a DIsney Dad MB. But no. It reminds me of how every year the 2-3 best Disney options for mens t-shirts at WDW sell out in L and X-L. This completely precedes all supply chain issues, and the failure is not that they could not predict which shirts would be popular, because the shirts exist in the smaller sizes. The failure is something as basic as not knowing what percentage of men wear L or XL compared to M and S.

And now they have underestimated the appeal of a Disney Dad MB. They very much need to get to know their customers.

Except, once I start room-charging with my MB, I sometimes bop out to do that with no ID. None required with that trusty magical device.

You'll not get a KTTW without ID as you're likely aware.

This was back in 2015- It was also my husband and I's first solo trip so I may not have realized. Good to know for now.

Honestly, it never crossed my mind. I always have my ID, in case of emergencies or in case I find myself wanting an adult beverage🍺, but that is a good point!
