Just got done checking out the newest western navs on Barb's site:worship: and I noticed they started charging for certain workout classes! Pilates and yoga look like they are new additions as a whole, and they are $10. But cardio kickboxing has been a class on DCL for a while now for free, but now there is a $10 fee!!! So, now knowing I am paying more for a class (let alone it being the same price as Palo), it will be that much harder to actually stick to my workouts (I do much better having an instructor motivate me!)

Hmmmmm, pay to eat at Palo or pay to workout on vacation.....which would you choose;) I hear Palo calling my name for brunch and dinner already!

The walk around deck 4 is still Free...
that is were u can find us...
After Palo brunch and dinner of course...

Peter (with the accents!!), you see I have this issue with motivation....an instructor telling me what to do so I can follow brainlessly is my thing! You guys will have to drag me on deck 4....no need to drag me to Palo, though!

JEN is just like a Drill Sargent she will keep u going..

I would imagine that the purpose for these fees is the same as some of the other fees that have been newly instituted. To discourage no shows.

"Oh Look, I can sign up for free! I got on the ship early so I'm going to sign up for EVERYTHING!!!!"

So a few people grabbed all the no cost reservations and then didn't bother to use them. The $10 fee at least makes people think twice before signing up.

My partner signed up for several workout classes. He went but told me that only a small percentage of those who signed up actually showed up.

On past cruises I have gone every morning for workout classes. Liked to try something different and prefer that to just walking, but I'm not going to pay the extra. I've taken the kickboxing--not worth $10!! Does anyone know what the attendance is like with the fees?

No way would I EVER pay to work out.

I HATE to excercise!:teeth:

Imagine, people actually PAYING to put themselves through torture?:hyper:

(Before anybody attacks me, I workout almost everynight on my TM, only cause I have too, I want to indulge in all the buffets on our upcoming cruise, and I'm cursing to myself w/every deep breath, and every drop of perspiration.)

It was only a matter of time before disney started charging for all the extras. The other cruise lines already charge for these things.
Palo is still a bargain at $10, the other cruise lines charge up to $20 for eating in the special restaurants.

This is just like charging people $10 per person for holiday reservations at WDW..for no shows...like someone already said...look at me, I got all the free reservations..now, I am going to skip them and sleep in. Only serious people will show now, or the instructor can sleep in..lol.

Granted, I've only cruised DCL once, but the kickboxing class I went to was full, and there were people on a wait list....and they charged no fee. (It was a good class, but considering the teeny size of the workout room, there's not a whole lotta room for much of anything!) If they are trying to make more money, it is kinda crappy, but hey, money is money. So I figure in order to work off the buffets, the drinks, the wine and whatever calorie loaded foodstuff I can find, I will need to pay 2 gym memberships.....one for home, one for DCL for those 2 weeks.....

Deck 4 is sounding better and better.....

It's not the same as reservations at WDW. If you reserve at WDW and pay $10 (or whatever) deposit- you use that money to pay for your meal or whatever the reservation is when you get there. For instance you pay a deposit for Cindy breakfast- you don't just lose that $10 if you show up... it goes towards your breakfast bill!
Totally different than paying nonrefundable fees like $10 for workout or other amenities on a cruise where you'd expect a workout class to be part of what you already paid when you paid for the cruise....... (unless the $10 is refunded if you show up? THEN it would be the same... otherwise not the same at all since you wouldn't normally be paying for the workout class in the first place to use that fee once you show up)
