What's up with rental car rates?

I was pricing out rental car rates on Budget's website for a week's rental out of the Indianapolis Airport. For the dates 5/25 to 6/2, the price was $260. For 5/26 to 6/2, the price was $117! That's a difference of about $130! Why the big difference? Is Memorial Day that big of a deal for rental cars?

Any holiday is a good excuse for rental car companies to raise their prices Barry....it's probably a blackout date too for any promotions. Good luck.

You are trying to rent a car IN INDIANAPOLIS over Memorial Day Weekend (during the Indianapolis 500)!!!!

Hotels cost more (if you can find one). Taxis cost more. Flights cost more. I'm sure car rentals cost more.

It is a crazy time to visit Indy (unless you are coming for the Indy 500). You and about 500,000 other visitors will be here.
