What's up with my cricut mats?

THe last few mats I have used are leaving glue boogies on the paper. It is really making me crazy. So much that my scraps are sticking together and I have to scrape down my paper cutter because the glue boogies are transferring to it when I cut the scraps. Anyone else have this problem? These were new mats -- the glue boogies seem to get worse the more I use the mats.

Have you wiped the mat with a baby wipe? That might take care of it.

No I haven't. I haven't had any success with baby wipes -- I find that it removes all of the sticky. THis seems to be a new problem for me with the latest batch of mats I have.

I had a problem like that once and it was so bad, all of the sticky stuff was coing off my mats on to the paper or the plastic overlay! Then the mat had all of these "bald" spots and didn't work right. I called customer service and they sent me new ones. It was a manufacturing defect.

As for baby wipes, you have to wipe down the mat, then leave the top sheet off for it to dry. Once it dries, the mat should be nice and sticky again.

I agree with the baby wipes. Give them time to dry, and the stickiness does seem to return. I have found this is the most effective way for me to "renew" my mats, and so inexpensive too!!:thumbsup2

Yes - -I am getting bald spots. Also, I noticed that they have a kind of camoflage look to them before I take off the top sheet for the first time.

Did you have to return the bad mats? I mean actually mail them back and then wait for Provocraft to receive them. I buy my mats a bunch at a time - -this is about the 4th set like this. I'll have to see how many sets I have left -- could be 10 or more sets.

I need to watch a video on the baby wipes. Maybe I am just letting my mat go too long before trying to renew it.

Sounds like you have a bad batch or an old batch that they dug up somewhere. I've had that happen a few times too. I would call provo craft.

As for the wipes, you want alcohol free wipes and wipe them down when you are ready to put it away for the day. Don't rub to hard because the sticky will come off. However I don't think that will help with the current issue you have.
