Here's our situation. We are flying SW, which I know is non participating with ME, and staying at the Contemporary 3/26-4/2. Last week we received our ME packet with the yellow luggage tags that say Contemporary 3/26 on them. Well yesterday we received another ME packet that had yellow luggage tags that say Contemporary but have our departing date of 4/2 on them.:confused3

My question is why would we need ME luggage tags to get back to the airport? I'm thinking this was a mistake, but I am baffled!

Help would be appreciated and TIA!

Yup, you're right, it's a mistake. No need for DME luggage tags for your return trip. Toss 'em, or keep 'em as a souvenir, but don't put 'em on your luggage or even take them with you on your trip.

HAVE FUN!

Oh, and just to clarify, even though I suspect you already know this, the airline you use makes NO DIFFERENCE when you arrive in Orlando. When you leave Orlando, some airlines participate in Resort Airline Check-in and some don't. But I just always like to make sure people realize that on arrival at MCO everyone gets the automatic luggage delivery (if they want it) regardless of airline.

But DO keep the vouchers for your return DME to MCO! We had the same thing happen for last month's trip.

You are not the first person recently to have this happen. I agree with the above posters, but it still won't hurt to call ME to check for sure. JMO

WHen you use the yellow tags out of one package, bring with you everything else in the package including some other yellow pieces.

Leave the entire other package home.

A few folks didn't have enough yellow tags in the first package so they used the tags in the second package as well and provided they brought the remains of both packages along and corrected the resort name if needed, they had no problems.

If there are no return vouchers or not enough return vouchers, more will be printed after you arrive and after they verify everyone staying in the room.

I'm totally confused! I'm not using ME myself, but why is SW not allowed to use ME? I thought as long as you flew into MCO then you could use ME?
I am flying into Sanford myself though, and never even told my AAA agent anything about my flight, and I still got the ME vouchers and tags as well. It must just come to everyone.

As far as your receiving a DME packet ... my guess is that your AAA travel agent doesn't understand the system enough to realize that DME doesn't serve guests flying into Sanford, and incorrectly made a DME reservation for you.

I had this happen yesterday. I called ME and they asked if I was switching resorts. I said yes and then they told me there is a "glitch" in their computer system that is issuing a second set of luggage tags for people who are switching resorts.

You can use ME with SW. you just can't check in for your flight at the resort when you leave if it doesn't participate. you have to take hyour luggage to the bus

So let me get this straight. You CAN use the luggage delivery to the resort when you arrive to MCO using SW, so you SHOULD put the yellow tags on your luggage. But coming home you have to bring your luggage to the bus and the bus driver puts it in the belly of the bus for your return to MCO when flying SW? Is this correct?

Yep, you got it right!! Anyone, absolutely anyone, arriving at MCO, on any airline, can use DME to get to WDW. For the trip back to the airport, anyone can ride on DME and have their luggage put underneath the bus. "Participating" airlines matters only if you want to avail yourself of the RAC system....allows you to check your bags right at the resort and get your boarding passes at the same time. Think of it as a 'remote checkin desk' rather than doing it at the airport. You all have to be there, with ID's in hand...same as as the airport. You can use it even if you don't use DME for arrival or departures. It really is a separate entity basically.

We Left SSR Today, via Magical Express and the agent for ME said that Southwest will start participating in the return luggage trip in about three weeks. Sounds like your return trip luggage tag tickets might be confirmation of this!!! I hope so, cause trying to get all that luggage through MCO today wasn't easy.

Unlikely, because there is no use for "return trip tags" for anyone on any airline. People flying airlines participating in Resort Airline Check-in are NOT given return DME luggage tags because they are simply not needed. The system doesn't work that way.

Also, not doubting what you personally heard, but that's been rumored for a long time and hasn't yet happened. Hopefully this time it's for real, but I don't want everyone to get their hopes up.

Under no circumstances are luggage tags given out for the return trip to MCO! Not for any airline now participating in this program. The yellow tags are only, ONLY, for arrival into MCO, for the start of your vacation. Those 'participating' airlines that will take your luggage, tag them and give you your boarding passes at the resort will be putting on regular airline luggage tags. They have nothing to do with DME....it is a completely different operation.
If you get a second set of yellow tags, then it's a fluke, a mistake.

Make sure you have return vouchers for everyone and a confirmation of the bus return time, at least a day before check out. The latter is usually hung on your room door said day before.

A family member leaving earlier should have his voucher and a separate confirmation at least a day before he leaves.

Remove yellow tags (and other old destination tags) from your luggage when checking out.
