Does anyone know what's going on with this site? It's been down since Aug 25th (26th their time) and it would seem like it'll be down for maintenance till the 1st. I know that being on the other side of the planet, I will never be able to order from them, but I still enjoy shopping the site, seeing what's new, and know that if there was ever something I really wanted, I could eventually find it on eBay. I really like this site, as .com, .co.uk, .bz, .anything really, is just a duplicate site of the American one, and offer almost the same products. The Japanese one is all about kawaii, and offer a ton of products that adult fans would love, while the .com clones tend to focus mainly on the 8 and younger demographic, just like the brick and mortar stores do. I am fortunate that my local Dallas store is a discount outlet for the resorts, but their shelf space is limited.

It just seems odd that a huge online retailer would be down for that many days. Doesn't seem professional. Typically things are tested heavily before they go live. So for maintenance to extend this long means that they tried to change something, it broke, and they honestly think it will take that long to fix it. I feel as though this would be the equivalent of Target.com or Walmart.com being offline for an entire week. The amount of sales lost would be huge!

August 26th was three days ago. The bear still has his hard hat on. Leave 'em alone and let them get their site repaired and ready to be shopped. Plus, it's the weekend.

Yes, I understand, but its Sunday over there (the 30th), and this started Wed (the 26th). That's 3 workdays, and they're planning 7 days (5 workdays). Maybe things are different over there, but if it were disneystore.com, I bet whoever disney contracted its web services to would be working round the clock, over time, and even if they got it up within 24 hours, they would still probably lose their client (disney). They would have probably also picked a different maintenance window, which tends to be a weekend. Wednesday just seems odd.

IT services tend to test the crap out of their IT "products" before going live. And have backup servers should something actually mess up, they could go back to a previous state. It just seems very very strange for such a large corporate site to be down an entire week. Google translate claims this was a "scheduled maintenance" window, and can change (possibly go live before Tuesday) So if they knew about this, than I'm curious about what awesomeness awaits. I couldn't get google to translate the kanji above the red text. I think it might be an image.
