We have been here for 2 days and have seen an insane amount of people in the parks dressed or corporate attire carrying ipads. Anyone know what they are doing? The husband and I can't remember there being so many people with Disney Badges dressed in that kind of attire before. We have been at Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Epcot today seemed like about every 100 feet there were one or two of them.

Cast members asking guests questions and surveying them.

I got surveyed about where I was from.

Then another survey about cast members I've came into contact with. Questions like did you run into any extra magical cast members? Were they good, excellent, poor, or indifferent? Etc.

July 4th weekend is one of the busiest weekends all year. Corporate employees show up to help with staffing levels. They need to be able t assist guests.

We were there this time last year and one of the employees with the iPads came over to us after we had a meal. He asked us a few questions about the meal and recorded the answers on the iPad.

was it a white shirt that might have said research on it? those are survey people.. they are usually mostly around in the front but sometimes they are let loose.

We were stopped several times, and it's a good thing because they send you a more thorough survey to fill out, which I did on the drive home. It's good to answer questions when the experience is still fresh in your mind.

I thought this was going to be a thread about people recording things or photographing in the parks with and iPad....phew...I'm glad its not, my keyboard my not have been able to handle my response.
Same here! I can't stand when people hole their giant tablets in front of my face at concerts, I can imagine how annoying it would be at WDW!

Thanks everyone. I didn't see anyone surveying anyone. So they must just be extra staff for the holiday weekend.

whats up with people recording the fireworks instead of actually watching them.. that was annoying to me... I would assume one could grab an HD video from youtube of the exact same fireworks show...

one other thing that annoyed me was..everyone was sitting down before the fireworks started.. everyone had a great view... then the fireworks start.. everyone stands up..uhg... and now half the kids can't see the castle ...

That is a peeve of mine too. DD uses a wheelchair, and it is frustrating to think you have a great view until the point when everyone stands up. Many times this happens at the show in front of the castle. Then we have to inch our way out of the crowd because we can't see the show.

During several of my most recent past trips, at least 2 times a trip we were approached by a CM with an iPad. They asked where we were from, our ages, what we like about Disney/visiting Disney, etc. At first we didn't see them talking to anyone either so we were wondering why CMs were just standing around with iPads and then we started to get approached by them all the time!

The iPads used by some guests though...*shudder*

I saw some when there for a week in June. Maybe they are watching new college program CM's??? I know the ones by FEA were doing crowd control for grand opening. I spoke to one. One was doing DAS to help out with large crowd over there.

I travel very light at Disney and which is why Im not bringing my son to Disney until next September. No need to worry about diapers/food/snacks/etc at age 5.

I cant fathom carrying a iPad around. I carry wallet & phone with me. Thats it....

Years ago I brought a camcorder (haha dating myself) and it was hell. This was prior to the tiny HD camcorders they have today.
