Well we aren't for sure when we will go, but it looks like anytime between now and next February. I actually wouldn't mind early Feb, when it is cold here, to get away. Anyways, I am looking up airfares for next year and they are all up $100-$200 more than now . Why? I would think that Jan/Feb. would be slower travel months, so the airfare wouldn't be so high. Maybe I am wrong. Does anyone else know why they are so high then.

I'm with you! I just planned a trip for Feb and the air fare was about $200 more than when I went in Sept. I finally found a good fare with United. It's a 'Take Time for You' sale for flights on Tues, Wed and Sat. It only books through Feb. 8th (I think) and I'm not sure how long the sale will last. Good luck with the airfare search!

Keep looking got $99 from Phily. Hope they will go lower. Feb 24 to March 3rd.

You guys are making me jealous!! So far , I 've not seen anythign good, but I have time yet, anyways.

:sad2: wowww! $79?!?! omgosh i am so jealous my DBF and i spent 450 each from toronto, canada!!! :confused3

DH and I were just looking at airfare and we like AA, because of the direct flight from Dallas Texas...It was $178 person round trip...Not too bad...We are going in January and we have not booked a flight yet...We are still playing with the notion of driving...

I've been checking with Southwest and JetBlue from NYC to Orlando the week of 2/19. For two adults, one child, SW wants $1300, JetBlue would be $1800. :furious: I'm holding out, hoping I'll get a deal somewhere.

One way to watch for cheap airfare is to sign up for Travelocity's "fare watcher". You'll receive occasional emails from Travelocity when airfare drops between the city pairs you select. You can even program when to receive emails, such as if fare drops by $25 or more.

good luck

Jenseib,
Does Southwest fly out of your local airport ? If so, go to the website and download "DING". Sale fares often pop-up last minute. I just had one on Oct 30 from Phila to Orlando for $44 each way for the month of Dec. I ended up booking our 3rd trip to WDW based on the fact that I got such a good fare. So I'm going Dec 1-4.
But you have to book these fare through the DING link. I have a friend who lives in Columbus and I'm always checking for sales for her as well. While not as frequent or as low as PHL's fares seem to be, they do pop up from time to time (usually 4-8 weeks prior to flight time).

My suggestion to you though, is book a resort now if you plan on staying on property. You can always cancel if a fare sale doesn't come through. I had ALOT of trouble securing a ressie at a disney resort last minute and I heard from others that there are some resorts that are already booked up for parts of Jan and Feb. Good luck ! :thumbsup2

Thanks for that info. We live near Toledo, but would most likely fly out of Detroit, as most fares are cheaper there, and most of the time you don't have to make a transfer. I think southwest flies out of there too.
I'll talk to DH about booking a room now and see what he says. You only have to put two hundred down right?

Thats crazy!

The reason Jetblue and Southwest are so high the week of Feb. 19th (President's Day) is because it is winter break here in NY and many other northeast states. I am also watching for that week but prices are just insanely high. Hopefully someone will run a deal but looks doubtful.

For "room only" ressies you only need to put down 1 night's reservation plus tax.

Also, download that DING. I just got DING'd right now for Philly to Orlando in Jan (1-31) for $44 to $47 each way certain flights ! When you download the program you can specify which airports you want to receive DING fares for. It's worth the download ! :thumbsup2
Best of luck !

Exactly! Most of the flights are already booked up too. For the first time ever, I'm going to look into the AutoTrain.

I'm going to try the advice of the other posters and check Travelocity and the DING thing :) .

The prices I'm getting are insane. I could fly to Europe for less!

What is auto train?

I would be looking into room and tickets when we go.

It's the Amtrak Auto Train. It goes from Virginia to Sanford, Florida and back. The trip takes about 18 hours. If you book a a sleeper room, it ends up being more expensive than airfare, but with coach seats, it's cheaper. Plus, you have your car when you get to Florida which saves on renting one.

We've never done the Auto Train before, but it does look fun. I'd prefer to fly but with the rates I'm getting, the auto train is lookin' good!

I hope they come out with some kind of seat sale for May. Otherwise, it is going to cost around $1200 for me and my son (but that's still not expensive enough to keep us home). :goodvibes

So your car goes on the train too? Wow, I never heard of that before. I wouldn't spend 18 hours on a train though. that is way too long. I can drive from Ohio to Florida in 18 hours. And it would be less expensive, I suppose.
