What's universal look like in daytime during Horror Nights

Hi

I am planning next Octobers trip, which will be very much family oriented, with two younger children, and older grandparents

It will be mostly disney based, but planning on doing a couple of days at Universal, and starying a night at Hard Rock to get the benefits.

I am gettin g concered that we will come across 'horrific Halloween Nights' stuff, which I'd like to avoid, as not sure its suitable for my younger kids.

My question is this. During the daytime, on normal opening days, does universal look 'a mess' with all the staging and props set up for the halloween nights. Does this spoil the normal day visit. Also, will my older parents and youug kids, see stuff that I would rather they didn't during this month (scary props/images/costumes)

Also, does city walk become a 'no go zone' for younger families during the halloween nights period, and will our stay at a Universal resort be spoilt by the more 'rowdy' aspects of this event.

Don't get me wrong, thuink the event looks great - and without my kids, would perhaps be keen to get involved, but for us as a younger family - I want to make sure experience is not spoilt by more 'sult orientated' entertainment.

So will I be able to 'avoid' all that, or is it impossible during October.

The only thing we noticed were some dead trees with bats hanging from them. I would never have even have noticed the bats if someone else wasn't taking a picture of them.

You won't see anything horrific during the day. Your kids have nothing to worry about.

Halloween Horror Nights is solely at the Studios...not CityWalk. Again...nothing to worry about.

By the animal show there is a section with really tall (20'+) figures with skull faces and black capes. But it is easy to just walk around them and then you don't really see them. Otherwise, the park just looks like a regular park. The gift shops do have souvenirs for HHN though, not sure if that bothers you.

CityWalk is fine, except there are large crowds of people coming in early and leaving late. (and the souvenirs are sold there too). There is a bit of drunken stupidity between midnight and 2 a.m., but I assume if you are taking young children you will not be out at that time. Guests are not allowed to come in costume to HHN - the scariest costume you will see is the Harry Potter robes. And some people may have Halloween-themed tshirts on.

I also noticed the bats on the dead tree, but I was being observant. My hubby wouldn't have noticed had I not said anything. I don't think you have anything to worry about at all! The skull faces near Animal Actors were a little weird, but avoiding them would be super easy.

I don't even remember those.

what we noticed when we were there way before Halloween was an area by Twister that had dusty looking stuff strewn around like it was post apocolypse or something. Other than that there were some black colored curtains here and there.

Thanks for the re-assurance everyone. So it seems that they must bring most stuff out then after the park closes for day, if nothing is really that evident during regular hours.

Presume none of the regualr attractions are closed during this period in the daytime? I was not sure whether some of them are turned into the haunted houses?

And as for City Walk - we would probably be there early evening after doing the park - to have dinner, etc, but yep - would be back at hotel by 10pm is I guess.

None of the attractions are closed during regular park hours. Parts of their queues can be used as haunted houses (i.e. Jaws and Disaster!) but they are not closed during the day.

CityWalk is very busy from around 6pm until 2am so you'll see it at it's best. ;)
