I have never been to Typhoon Lagoon or to any water park for that matter. And we were considering giving Typhoon Lagoon a try. WHat's it like? What do you like or dislike about it?

I love it! I'm a huge fan of it. I went for the first time in 2003 (winter of 2003). It's beautifully themed. We were lucky - in the off season, we didn't wait in line for ANYTHING other than a locker rental. The wave pool was great for me - the avid swimmer. Not so great for my DH, who can dog paddle and that's about it, so he hung out on the shore and watched. It's a great park! We loved it and plan to go back (weather pending) this winter too!

You can snorkel with sharks--that's my favorite part! There are other fish and rays in there, too. Bring a disposable underwater camera. :)

Beyond the snorkeling, the themeing is great, the wave pool is great. I wish the slides were more daring (like at Wet n Wild), but they do have some great slides.

Don't be afraid though! The sharks aren't like Bruce and Anchor. They are small sharks that would just as soon leave you alone. They are well fed and if you REALLY ticked them off, they might be able to take off a hand at best, so that will give you an indicator of thier size. You are only allowed to snorkle on the surface of the pool, they won't let you dive and the sharks tend to hang out near the bottom.

Here are a few photos I took last weekend.

Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite waterpark. There is the wave pool, shark reef and the new water roller coaster Crush n Gusher.

Great pictures! We are visiting TL for the first time next month and I can't wait to see this. I might even get in! BUT if I do chicken out, is there a place along the side to stand and see the sharks?
Thanks,
DJ

We went to BB and TL and preferred TL. The slides are pretty boring except Slusher Gusher which is great if a little short but the park is more relaxing than BB. BB has too much fake snow which relects the sun and can be very harsh on the eyes. TL has a fantastic wave pool with waves that can be surfed when you buy early morning surf lessons and the shark reef which is actually a bit lame. you dont get time to actually take in the swim as you enter the reef at one side then have to swim in a straight line to the other side and get out. If this sort of thing interests you I would recommend Discovery Cove at SeaWorld.
Both water parks have loads of seating/loungers and lazy rivers and BB has a ski lift which is a little easier on the legs for reaching the high slides. We spent a half day at BB and a whole day at TL.

Typhoon Lagoon is very "tropical" feeling. Being from the central east coast, this is what I want!! You really feel like you're on some island. The slides and lazy river are all kind of tucked away and as your walking around you will kind of just come upon the lines. The wave pool is wonderful (and physically exhausting). I really love Typhoon Lagoon. We've also been to Blizzard Beach and it just seems less relaxing, more packed, and more "in your face" if that makes sense. Not crazy about the winter theming either.

You can walk through the boat/submarine and there are windows in the side where you can watch the fish in the reef.
