When I made a ressie for CRT recently, I was told that the children get some sort of a wand as a small gift (in addition to the photos). Then she said, no, my DD wouldn't get one after all, since she's 10 and treated as an adult. (Pay more, get less :confused3 )

Before I get my nose all bent out of shape over the fact that they're charging me $38 after tax/tip for her to eat a piece of french toast with a princess walking by, I'd like to know a little bit more about what it is that she won't be given. Anybody?

(I know, I know, we're paying for the experience, not the food....)

Girls get a wand and boys get a sword....both about the quality of the Dollar Store brands. They (children) are also given a 'blinking' wishing star. At one point during the 'visit' there is a bit of hoopla about closing your eyes, waving your wand/sword of the wishing star and making a wish. I am sure if you let them know your daughter would like a wand and star to participate -- they would give her one. All the adults at our table (2) got stars for asking :) . We were even offered a wand. If you are concerned about her not getting one my recommendation would be to get her one and "surprise" her with it when you get upstairs to eat. The wands and swords are handed out AFTER you have gotten upstairs to be seated. Hope that information helps. Also, crowns are "oohed and aahed" over by the princesses. :wizard:

Thanks! I am so glad you posted!

That's a very clear picture of what will happen. It sure sounds like they'll include DD10. I'm guessing the CM who takes the ressie is just a little too far removed from what happens and has to go "by the script" when describing the meal.

Thank you again!

My DS is 11 & was given a sword, so while he is considered an "adult" age-wise, the CMs at the meal could obviously see he's still a kid. ;) If your DD was 17-18, I'm sure they'd wonder, but if she's 10, I'm certain they'll give her a wand.

Having said all that, the quality of the wands & swords is a joke. I've bought nicer ones for Halloween costumes for very little money than what we were given for the breakfast.

I'm glad we did it once, but will we ever do it again? Probably not. But at least we got the experience. :)
