can be deep or trivial

nothing too bad , usually its people using power tools at 7am while i am trying to have a lie in.

A really bad thunderstorm for sure. I use a white noise machine so most noises don’t wake me up, but a couple weeks ago we had an early morning thunderstorm right over us and the thunder shook the bed it was so loud.

Other than that, the alarm clock the first morning of the work week. I always get my hours messed up on my days off, and have trouble getting to sleep that last night. Most weeks, I go to work on about three hours sleep that first day. I get up at 3:00 on a work day, but really prefer around 7:00, which is tough when your shift starts at six and it’s an hour commute to get there.

Trivial: DH is that neighbor that mows the lawn 7am on Sunday morning

Deep: Phone call at 3 am saying I should come to the hospital

A restaurant several streets away from my apartment exploded and the sound woke me up.

The worst by far was a call from my sister's then boyfriend telling me she needed me at the hospital. She was 22 weeks into her pregnancy and gone into premature labor and had sepsis on top of that. I don't think I ever made it to any place so quickly. She survived but the pregnancy had a tragic ending.

I'm so very sorry. Still offer prayers to all. God Bless.

Always. When you want to wake up very early the next day, the neighbors want to cut their lawn at 7 PM.

Phone calls where the news of the death of a relative is relayed.

Our alarm going off at 5am, complete with the outside sirens. The problem was, we didn't have the alarm set, so there was no way to turn it off. I'm sure the neighbors loved us that day! Gah!

Once I woke up to someone dressed in all black standing over me. I SCREAMED at the top of my lungs.

It was my boyfriend who got in late that evening and was wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants. My side of the bed happens to be by the door, so the door opening must've waken me, and he happened to be walking by the bed when my eyes opened. Scared the crap out of me... and him!!!

When the space shuttle Columbia crashed, it shook the house and woke us up. I knew something awful had happened.

We lived on the West Coast, which explains why I was asleep. But I woke up to a phone call from DH telling me one of the Twin Towers Was gone. He had to say it three times before I understood what he was saying.

Better one, I woke up to a phone call for the Mom of the goalie for the Colorado Rapids. He was British, so his mom was calling from England and didn’t adjust the time difference quite right. She wanted to talk to DH, they were Internet friends. My DH is very connected to the Colorado Rapids world, on the fan side.

We have huge trees in our yard. Got woken up to the sound of them snapping during an ice storm.

Ha, if I went to bed at 7 pm, I wouldn't be waking up early or even very early the next day. It would still be today. :teeth:

My grandmother's friend calling at 3AM and telling my my grandfather had died.
