Hello! Trying to convince my sister to go to Disney World in October or November but she is concerned that it won't be hot enough and we won't get to use the pools etc. Can someone tell me what it is like in October/November? Also, what is your favorite time to go, and when is it cheapest to go - by that I mean when are the resort hotels at Disney cheapest?

Thanks!

Can't speak for October, but we were there week before Thanksgiving in '04 and the weather was perfect...high 70's during the day, low 60's/high 50's in the evenings. Could get a little chilly at night, but nothing a light jacket or sweatshirt didn't take care of. Many nights we sat on the balcony at the BW in shorts and a sweatshirt and watched Illuminations over the trees.

Was there one day last November (Tues before t-giving), also, and it was a tad chilly, even for a northerner in FLA. Wore jeans to the park that day, but when the sun came up was very comfortable in a t-shirt. (The natives were in parkas and gloves. :D )

So, YMMV, but you'll still be able to swim, they keep the pools heated. Rain is usually non-existant that time of year, too. I think weather.com has a good historical temps and rainfall table to look at.

It will definitely be warm enough to swim in October, and most likely early to mid-November, too. I live in NW Florida and it's usually still pretty warm here in Oct, sometimes even hot, although it usually cools down nicely at night.
I was at WDW a few years ago in early November for a conference and it was quite humid and rained hard for 2-3 days, although I think that is unusual. Oct-early Nov are usually fairly dry.
Our favorite time to visit WDW used to be early Dec, right after Thanksgiving holiday, but the secret is out and it has become more crowded over the years. The weather is just about perfect, though. Now we go in mid-January (AFTER the WDW marathon) and the crowds are very low, the resort prices are discounted, and the weather is, well, shall we say interesting. It can be very cold (as in frosty) in the morning, sunny during the day, cold again at night. Or it can be very mild. I've never tried swimming in the pools in Jan, even if they are heated, because eventually you have to get OUT of them!
Anyway, Oct-Nov is a great time to go, especially if you can avoid those holiday weekends like Presidents Day and Veterans Day. Have fun planning!

Hi McGill,
We have been there both in October and November and I can honestly say that I loved November more. It was the week before Thanksgiving that we went and the weather was perfect. :sunny: Everyday my DBF would use the pools. He even had a pool all to himself. I am not much of a swimmer but I do remember reading that year round they keep the pools at a certain temp.

As for the "value season" you can check all the dates on the Disney website and maybe the time that you are looking around will fall into that bracket.
Either month you go in you will have a great time.
October will be done up for Halloween and November you will start seeing the christmas decorations go up... its so wonderful! :) :dance3:
